Amy Winehouse buying St Lucia villa
Amy Winehouse buying St Lucia villa

Amy Winehouse is on the verge of buying a beach house on St Lucia. The singer has been house hunting on the Caribbean island and is planning on buying a £3m villa.
Winehouse, 23, recently spent three months on St Lucia as she tried to beat her drug addiction. According to The Sunday Mirror, the Back to Black singer now wants a permanent base on the island.
She flew out to the
Caribbean island last week and appears to be taken with one of the properties she viewed. A source told the paper that following her visit, Winehouse is finalising the purchase of one of the
villas on St Lucia.
The villa is part of the exclusive
Ocean Residences resort on St Lucia's Sugar Beach. The property is set in 162 acres of rainforest, with views over white sandy beaches from the balcony. The resort lies in a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
"Amy has instructed lawyers to draw up contracts with the developers and everything is set for her to buy it," a friend told the paper. However, Winehouse's parents have legal control over her finances and are thought to be worried about "the possible distractions of drugs and partying" on the island, the source added.
If Winehouse goes ahead with the purchase, she will benefit from 24 hour butler and maid service. The price also includes use of a private fitness centre, rainforest spa and scuba diving centre.
