Ryanair is to open a base at Leeds Bradford Airport. Two aircraft will be based at the airport and 14 new routes will be launched as a result of the investment.

Ryanair will offer 63 weekly return flights to/from Leeds Bradford when it opens its new base in March 2010. The announcement is good news for owners of holiday homes overseas, as more destinations will be opened up to travellers in the north of England.

Gites in France will benefit, with new routes to/from Carcassonne, Montpellier, Nantes and Limoges Access to villas in Spain will also improve thanks to new services to/from Malaga and Murcia.

In addition, owners of villas in Italy will welcome the decision as it means new Ryanair routes to/from Pisa, Venice and Treviso. Holidaymakers travelling from Leeds Bradford will also be able to reach Ibiza, Palma, Faro, Knock and Krakow.

Ryanair is confident that it will carry one million passengers to and from Leeds Bradford per year. The new routes bring the total number of services operating from the airport to 17.
