Property owners in Greece need to register their property
Property owners in Greece are being reminded of the need to submit their paperwork for the country's first major land register. More than three million properties still need to be registered before the end of the year.

The land registry process for property, including holiday homes in Greece, was launched in June but has got off to a slow start, reports Greece Magazine. Property owners are being urged to complete the process as soon as possible to avoid the risk of administrative back logs.

The initial deadline for foreign owners of property in Greece to file their papers for the country's first comprehensive land register is December 30th, although Greek owners only have until the end of September. However, it has been speculated that the deadline for Greek owners could be extended to December 31st.

Owners of older properties which have never undergone a title search but have simply been passed down through families have been warned that they are likely to face problems if they fail to register their property.

Registering a property in Greece costs €35, with additional fees payable for separate storage rooms or parking bays.
