Investment in Cape Verde 'easier'
Obtaining a mortgage in Cape Verde has become easier for overseas investors, one expert has said.Catherine Hearnded, director of MyMortgageDirect, said that while there was still not much choice for anyone looking for a mortgage in the country, lenders were "starting to make refinements" to the products being offered.
She added that the fact that the county had recently joined the World Trade Organisation (WTO) should help the market in future.
Ms Hearnded said: "I think it will make it easier for people to invest, but at the moment I didn't think it will make it any easier for them to get a mortgage
I think what the WTO membership will do is give more confidence."
Cape Verde joined the WTO in December, after almost eight years of negotiations.
Research by the country's National Statistics Institute reveals that Britons are the third most common visitors to Cape Verde.
