Harry Potter star Emma Watson buys luxury ski chalet in Meribel
Harry Potter actress Emma Watson has bought a luxury ski chalet in France. Watson is reported to have invested in a £1m ski chalet in Meribel.
Watson came into a £10m fortune on her 18th birthday in April this year and the
ski-chalet in
Meribel is the
Harry Potter star's first major purchase, according to The Telegraph.
"The house is Emma's way of celebrating her recent straight As at A-Level and finally getting her hands on some of her hard-earned cash. She worked really hard this year and didn't have much of a birthday party so this was a present to herself," a friend told the paper.
"She's always wanted a ski chalet and she's having a great time doing it up. She's looking forward to having friends to stay."
Watson, a keen skier, is spending thousands on refurbishments and intends to throw a
lavish party at her new
ski chalet in France once work is complete.
Watson earned the money from her role as
Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films but could not spend it until she was 18. The teenage actress from
Oxford is said to have received sound financial advice to help ensure she spends her money sensibly.
