Porto Santo 'the next big destination'
Porto Santo 'the next big destination'Porto Santo could become one of the most popular holiday destinations in Europe, it has been claimed.

Writing for the Daily Telegraph, Paul Mansfield explains that as UK tourists will be able to fly direct to the island from Monday, visitor numbers should climb dramatically.

The fact that Porto Santo, which is located next to Madeira, also has stunning beaches will only serve to increase its attraction to visitors, Mr Mansfield stated.

He said: "The beach is Porto Santo's calling card, a sweep of sand that stretches for most of the island's south coast; wide, gently sloping and backed by rolling dunes."

The fact that the island only has a population of 5,000 means it has a "quiet remoteness," making it even more charming, he added.

Porto Santo is currently developing the infrastructure required to support the expected demand from tourists, he concluded. Direct flights to Porto Santo from Gatwick start on May 5th and run throughout the summer months until October 27th.
