Morocco to be 'major holiday destination'
Morocco to be 'major holiday destination'The next three or four years will see Morocco transformed into a major holiday destination for Europeans, according to an expert.

Figures released by the Moroccan tourism department show that visitor numbers increased last year, up 12 per cent on figures for 2005.

Now, property firm Avatar Portfolio claims that factors such as improving infrastructure and existing European influences will push the levels up further in a few years time.

A spokesman for the firm said: "You notice that airports are being improved, motorways are being put in; there are a lot of things that are happening to put this country in a position and in the next three or four years it will be a serious holiday destination for anyone in Europe."

There is also evidence to suggest that Morocco is set to become attractive to property investors.

Totallyproperty.com reported capital growth of over 30 per cent in the last three years in the country's major cities, while properazzi.com stated that property purchases by foreigners accounted for 15 per cent of foreign investment there in 2006.
