Holidaymakers becoming 'more adventurous'
Holidaymakers becoming 'more adventurous'Holidaymakers from the UK are becoming increasingly "adventurous" when it comes to choosing where to travel, it has been claimed.

Frances Tuke, spokeswoman for the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA), said that Turkey, Egypt and Morocco are proving popular among Britons, the BBC reports.

"People are becoming very demanding in their holiday choices. They want to be a bit more adventurous," she claimed.

According to the news provider, figures produced by the Office for National Statistics for the year to December 2007 revealed that the number of visits to Europe remained at the same level recorded in 2006 and trips to North America fell by two per cent.

However, travel to other parts of the world increased by seven per cent during this period - suggesting that holiday homes in far-flung destinations may be growing in popularity.

Last year, Donna Casey, spokesperson for BAA Heathrow, said that Dubai, Hong Kong and Sydney are some of the most popular long-haul destinations among UK travellers.
