Roman's Rocky ranch - Abramovich buys in Colorado
Prolific business oligarch Roman Abramovich has added to his property portfolio with the purchase of a ranch in the
Rocky Mountains. The Daily Mail focuses on the Russian oil magnate's most recent real-estate acquisition.
Abramovich, who owns Chelsea Football Club, reportedly bought the house on Wildcat Ridge, near Aspen,
for £18 million. The 11 bedroom house is set in 200 acres and boasts a wine tasting room, as well as 12 bathrooms
and a media room, the paper claims.
The billionaire's new home previously belonged to surgical-equipment tycoon Leon Hirsch and was first placed on the
market in 2005. Aspen Broker Maureen Stapleton spoke enthusiastically of Abramovich's purchase: "Mr Abramovich has
purchased one of the most amazing places in America. The house is very private, on 200 acres, in the most
magnificent setting on a ridge with seamless views of the high peaks of the Rockies."
The Wall Street Journal points out that the split-level
Colorado ranch is just a five minute drive from Abramovich's other home
in the area; a 5,600 square-foot ski lodge in Snowmass Village. Abramovich is said to have purchased the
five-bedroom property for $11.8 million in February of this year. According to the paper this brings the value of
his known real-estate investments in the area to almost $50 million.
Abramovich with an estimated net worth of $18.7 billion, according to the American periodical, was last year ranked
16th in Forbes's list of billionaires. The tycoon's real-estate dreams continue; The Daily Mail speculates on the
Russian's plans to build a £150 million mansion in
London for himself and his girlfriend Daria Zhukova, a Russian
model.
