Tube strikes possible in London
London Tube workers will vote on possible strike action. Underground staff are locked in a dispute with bosses over pay.

The Rail, Maritime and Transport Union (RMT) said that its members have rejected a 1.5 per cent pay increase. As a result London Tube workers will vote on whether to strike or take other industrial action. Should a Tube strike go ahead, holidaymakers renting London apartments as well as workers would be affected.

RMT's Bob Crowe said: "We are looking for a pay offer that matches up to deals elsewhere in our industry and which reflects the real costs of living and working in an expensive city like London."

It is not yet known when any potential strike would take place. RMT members carried out a 48 hour strike in June protesting against other issues, but the pay dispute remains unresolved.
