Gatwick Express offers tea & coffee for 26p
Gatwick Express is offering passengers tea and coffee at 1984 prices today. The rail service is charging travellers just 26p for hot drinks as part of its 25th birthday celebrations.
The promotion is intended to remind passengers of the high standards of customer service that Gatwick Express continues to deliver after a quarter of a century of operating. The offer is only valid today, which marks the service's 25th birthday.
Since May 14 1984 Gatwick Express has carried over 125m passengers between Victoria rail station in
London and Gatwick Airport. Travelling at up to 90 miles per hour, the journey on Gatwick Express takes just 30 minutes.
The service's managing director, Chris Burchell, described today as a "landmark birthday", adding that members of the British Royal Family and heads of states from around the globe have travelled on Gatwick Express. Before 1984 the rail link between London and the airport was limited and Gatwick Express has altered people's perception of the distance between the two, Burchell added.
