XL Airways cancels all Caribbean flights
XL Airways cancels all Caribbean flights
XL Airways has cancelled all its flights to the Caribbean. The airline has said it will continue to operate flights, but will concentrate on other destinations.

XL Airways has blamed the cancellation of its Caribbean flights on rising fuel costs and the lack of demand for the routes, reports The Telegraph. The cancellations apply to all XL Airways flights to the Caribbean from the beginning of November.

The cancellations will affect flights to Antigua, St Kitts and Nevis, Trinidad and Tobago, St Lucia, Barbados and Grenada.

Rather than continuing its services to the Caribbean, XL Airways' Martin Lock said that the airline will focus on short- and medium-haul flights as well as its more profitable long-haul services to Florida.

XL Airways is advising passengers who booked their flights through a travel agent to contact the agent in order to arrange alternative flights.

Fortunately, XL Airways is not the only airline operating flights to the Caribbean; bmi, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic all offer Caribbean routes.
