Text service launched by Ryanair - flight updates direct to your phoneLow cost airline Ryanair has launched a service that is set help friends and families keep track of passengers while they are airborne, reports TravelMole.

The new service, called Flight Tracker, sends a text message containing flight status information to UK and Irish mobile phones. The service costs £1.50 and gives anyone waiting for a Ryanair passenger the latest information and regular updates on the status of the flight in question.

Ryanair's Sinead Finn said: "For just £1.50/€2, Flight Tracker will keep you updated on departure and arrival times, as well as providing important notifications on those rare occasions when a Ryanair flight is delayed. This service will allow people to keep airport parking charges to a minimum."

In order to benefit from the service, interested parties need to call or text the number provided on the Flight Tracker website. According to the website, arrival information is sourced directly from Ryanair operations. In total, 24 UK airports and 7 Irish airports are covered.
