Ryanair cuts winter flights from Doncaster
Ryanair is pulling out of Doncaster's Robin Hood Airport for the winter. Earlier in the year Ryanair also announced that it was stopping its Doncaster to Dublin service.

It is thought that the cancellation of the Doncaster routes to Spain is due to the current economic climate. However, owners of Barcelona apartments and Alicante villas should have the flights back for the peak summer season.

"Whilst we are naturally disappointed to hear that...Ryanair will not be operating flights to Barcelona and Alicante throughout the winter months from Robin Hood Airport, we have been informed that Ryanair intends to restart its flights...from May next year," Nick Smillie from the airport told Doncaster's The Star newspaper.

Smillie added that additional summer flights from other airlines and strong patronage on the existing Wizz Air service to Poland indicate that the winter cutback will be offset next summer. The airport is in discussions with other carriers regarding a possible replacement for Ryanair, but nothing has yet been confirmed.

Ryanair pulled its Doncaster to Dublin back in March. Around 60,000 passengers used the route last year, but Ryanair blamed air traffic costs imposed by the Irish government for its decision.
