Northwest Airlines jet overshoots runway by 150 miles

A Northwest Airlines plane overshot its destination by 150 miles. Contact with the aircraft was lost after crew members said they were involved in a "heated discussion".
The Northwest Airlines flight from San Diego was carrying 144 passengers when it overshot Minneapolis by 150 miles, according to the Associated Press news agency. The
US incident occurred at around 9pm on Wednesday (local time).
The pilots were unaware of their mistake until a flight attendant in the cabin alerted them. The plane then turned around and landed safely at Minneapolis.
The two pilots, who said they were engaged in debate, have been suspended from flying while an internal investigation is carried out. Aviation experts have said that it would take more than a heated debate to lose track of landing preparations.
