Eurostar latest travel advice: nearly 100 per cent capacity by the end of the week

Eurostar is expected to be running at nearly 100 per cent capacity from St Pancras by the end of this week. Freight services and passenger services from Folkestone should be running at a slightly lower capacity.
"The number of people boarding trains and the number of trains will be almost back to 100 per cent," said
Eurostar spokesman John Keefe.
Freight services are expected to be running at 90 per cent, while passenger services from
Folkestone will be operating at a slightly lower level.
However, trains will still need to avoid the section of the Channel Tunnel that was most badly damaged following the fire on 11th September.
Eurotunnel is hoping to open the first of three ten-and-a-half mile sections of track in the north tunnel tomorrow and a second section should be open again by Wednesday.
From today, Eurostar will be increasing the number of trains from
London to
Paris from 12 a day to 15; before the
Channel Tunnel fire, Eurostar operated 17 London-Paris services daily.
Slight delays for
passengers travelling on Eurostar are still possible, added Keefe, as the trains have to slow down when diverting to the undamaged south tunnel to travel past the fire-damaged section.
"It is like when a motorway lane is closed. By the end of the week it will be a ten-mile closure, not 30," he concluded.
