Continental Airlines pilot dies in-flight: plane lands safely at Newark
The Continental Airlines flight on which the pilot died landed safely at Newark, New Jersey. Passengers were unaware of the circumstances on the flight from Brussels to Newark.

The plane landed on time at Newark Liberty International Airport, reports The Guardian. The Boeing 777 had 247 passengers aboard, who did not know that the co-pilot had taken control of the plane.

An announcement was made during the flight, asking if there were any doctors on the flight. The 61 year old pilot is believed to have died of natural causes.

A relief pilot was able to take over the flight, said a spokeswoman for Continental Airlines. "The flight continued safely with two pilots at the controls," she assured the media.

Passengers remained unaware of what was going on and only became concerned on arrival at Newark, where they were met by emergency vehicles. "I didn't hear anything or so anything," said one traveller. "I was wondering why there were so many cops."
