Bank Holiday strikes at Gatwick, Manchester & Stansted
Strikes are set to go ahead at UK airports this Bank Holiday weekend. Workers at Stansted, Gatwick and Manchester have voted in favour of industrial action.
Strikes are also ongoing at Liverpool John Lennon Airport but extra staff have been drafted in to minimise disruption, reports The Times. It is expected that travellers will experience some disruption as a result of the industrial action as the August Bank Holiday is considered one of the busiest times for UK airports.
At Gatwick, flights with Virgin Atlantic, Delta, Thomson, Flybe and Monarch will be affected. Gatwick's owners have nevertheless stressed that any disruption will be minimal.

Manchester will be affected by industrial action from Thursday. Etihad Airways, Emirates, Virgin Atlantic and Monarch flights could be disrupted. Again, officials are reassuring passengers that "major disruption is unlikely" and people should travel to the airport as usual.
The disruption will be limited at Stansted, where no official action will take place until at least Tuesday. If the Stansted strikes go ahead, flights with Ryanair, Monarch and Thomson could be disrupted. Workers at Stansted must give seven days notice of industrial action and they have not yet done so.
Regarding the industrial action at Liverpool John Lennon Airport, spokesman Robin Tudor said: "The industrial action by staff employed by airline handling agent Servisair commenced last Thursday (20th Aug) and has been continuing ever since. This industrial action continues to have no impact at all on flights departing the airport, due to the robust contingency plans in place by Servisair who have brought in replacement staff from other airports to cover the duties of those in dispute.
"Talks are ongoing and hopefully this dispute will soon be resolved, but the message for travellers using Liverpool John Lennon Airport throughout this dispute and for the duration, is that it is 'business as usual'.
