Air Canada allows pets in cabin as hand luggage
Air Canada is allowing passengers to carry their pets as hand luggage. Cats and dogs will be permitted in the cabin from July 1.

Holidaymakers renting cabins in Canada will need to pre-register their cat or small dog for travel in the cabin. The number of pets per flight is limited, so the service will need to be requested within 24 hours of completing a booking.

Animals will need to be in an approved pet carrier, which must be placed under the passenger's seat for the entire flight. Only one pet per passenger is permitted and travellers must arrive at the airport at least 30 minutes before the recommended check-in time.

At present, the Air Canada pet service will not be available for Canadians planning UK holidays. Britons travelling to Canada should also be aware that pets are not currently permitted in the cabin on flights to/from the UK.

Allergy sufferers should not worry - Air Canada is asking travellers to advise staff at check-in of any problems. Efforts will then be made to change seating arrangements.
