Chalet Calvert is privately owned home that has been designed and built to specification in 2007. It is fully equipped and furnished to a very high standard and has been awarded "Four Star Luxury" by the Swiss Tourist Board in Gstaad. It is suitable for families or groups of friends and has a large living/dining area for socialising.

The chalet is light, spacious (220 sq m) and elegantly furnished on 3 floors. All the rooms have uninterrupted south-facing views over Zweisimmen and the Gstaad resort mountain slopes. The chalet is located on the edge of the village but is only 5 minutes walk from the centre of the village, local shops and the railway station. The location is very quiet with a south facing balcony for sunbathing!

The middle floor has a large balcony with wonderful south-facing views. Bedroom 2 has a similar balcony. There is parking for 3 cars in front of the chalet.

The Bern/Obwalden region

Zweisimmen is in the Simmental area of the Bernese Oberland. It lies about 1 hour by car due south of Bern. The entire region, and the Simmental in particular, is ideal for a wide range of winter sports and summer activities including skiing, snowboarding, snow cross, hiking, mountain biking, cycling, horse riding among others.

Zweisimmen town lies at 1,200metres and the top of the Rinderberg (ski lift connecting with Gstaad) is 1,800m. The resort provides direct access to the prestigious resort of Gstaad all within the same ski pass. The season runs from beginning of December until late March/early April and even beyond that there's the Glacier 3000 which is part of the same ski area.

The area is extremely beautiful and unspoiled by mass tourism. It is generally regarded as one of Switzerland's best kept secrets.


Zweisimmen is a quiet, traditional Swiss village at the heart of the Simmental area and on the edge of Saanenland. It has many amenities including a busy railway station so you don't necessarily need to hire a car. Unlike some other villages which are primarily or exclusively for skiers Zweisimmen is a vibrant community throughout the year. There are tennis courts, a swimming pool and a very sophisticated rope-park within the village.


Zweisimmen is a traditional Swiss village in the heart of the Bernese Oberland. Surrounded by beautiful vistas and miles of skiing in one of the most picturesque resorts in the Alps. In the winter the region has skiing for all abilities from family friendly slopes to great off-piste rides.

Zweisimmen itself has all the amenities of a large town but retains the traditional atmosphere with plenty of good restaurants and a ski lift up the local Rinderberg mountain which connects with the vast Gstaad piste area. The Gstaad ski area is full of traditional mountain restaurants and throughout the season there are snow park events, ski cross and night skiing for the more adventurous. Although the area is not renowned for its apres - ski there are few traditional bars dotted around the ski slopes with the highlight being a winter igloo serving gluhwein at the top of Sannenmoser. For those seeking nightlife the prestigious resort of Gstaad is a ski journey or 15 minute car journey away.

There are plenty of traditional Swiss restaurants around Zweisimmen including the infamous Wildhorn Hotel where you will find yodelling and delicious fondu. A cocktail in the Gstaad Palace is also a real treat of an evening.


In the summer Zweisimmen and the surrounding areas are perfect for walkers and hikers with routes of varying degrees of challenge within easy reach. Many can be combined with charming train journeys, either outwards or return or both.

There is an equally extensive range of cycling options with dedicated cycle tracks created specifically for recreational cycling, including many challenging mountain bike trails. A very popular activity is to use the extensive lift system to gain height and then enjoy an exhilarating downhill ride to the valley.

There are also plenty of lakes in the area for summer swimming after a long hike.

The world famous Montreux Jazz Festival is only a 1.5 hour car journey away from the Chalet.

"A home from home"

Chalet Calvert is a relatively newly built chalet with five comfortable and good sized bedrooms, including four doubles with sleigh beds, and one with bunk beds.
There is ample wardrobe and storage space in the chalet, a modern well appointed kitchen, and a cozy lounge area with leather sofas and chairs.
The chalet is situated five minutes from the centre of Zweisimmen with easy access to suermarkets and shops. It is in a quite and secluded hillside road and the highlight for the children was spotting the deer that wandered past the chalet in the evenings and early mornings.
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and plan to rebook next year.

This is without a doubt the most incredeible chalet I have stayed in. The location is perfect, really close to the centre and lifts and set in beautiful surroundings. A lot of thought has clearly gone into making the chalet homely as it doesn't feel like the usual rented accommodation. Strongly recommended! If you don't know Zweisimmen, you're in for a treat!

"Excellent chalet. Woderful views. Beautiful furniture. Yummy food."

We stayed here as an extended familly group and were looked after by our hosts who made sure that we ate well and were very helpful in every way. The Chalet is new but looks traditional. Very warm (it was very cold outside). Lots of hot water. The Chalet faces south so it was also sunny, however it is up a short steep hill so chains or a 4x4 are needed if it snows - and it did, big time when we were there.
The ski slopes are all North facing, so on the other side of the valley and a 10 min walk away. Good road and rail connections. We were there for a week and found the skiing more than adequate with lots of varied runs and a large number of mountain resturants.
We hope to come back for another family holiday here.
Highly recommended.

"Home from home in Zweisimmen"

I was slightly nervous about booking a chalet completely independently as it was something I've never done before and I was booking on behalf of extended family so felt under pressure to get it right. I need not have worried though... email contact with the owners was easy and seamless and the booking process was extremely straightforward. We were provided with a wealth of information before our stay and I received prompt and informative answers to the many questions I asked right up until a few days before we left the UK.

We were all in complete awe of the chalet. We arrived after dark having spent the whole day travelling and it was such a relief to find ourselves in such warm and homely surroundings. Each of the five bedrooms is a good size and has ample storage space. The kitchen and living area was ideal for our large group; the kitchen being very well-equipped and having a much-needed dishwasher! The Sky TV also went down very well particularly with the men in our group and the 3-year old. The number of bathrooms also meant there were no queues ever!

The chalet is in a prime location on the side of the valley in Zweisimmen offering stunning views of the piste down into the village and the cable car which runs to the top of the Rinderberg. We arrived by train from Geneva airport and I would definitely recommend arranging a taxi from the station if you have lots of luggage and taking advantage of the ski lockers at the cable car station on a daily basis to save you carrying equipment up and down the hill each morning and night. We used the locker room operated by the ski hire shop next door. It's free if you hire from them; we paid 4 Swiss Francs per day per person for skis and boots as we had our own equipment. Pay at the shop and they will show you where to go. There are other lockers in the same area which I think are on a first-come-first served pay-as-you-go basis, but we didn't look into these.

Overall, we had an amazing stay at Chalet Calvert and would definitely consider a return visit if we go back to the same area in the future. Older travellers and families with young children would feel very at home here, but I would strongly advising taking/hiring a car.

"Excellent Alpine chalet located in the heart of the pretty Swiss ski resort Zweissemann"

We rented this chalet for a new year's trip with friends and found it to be most comfortable and perfectly Alpine in character. The chalet is centrally located within the very pretty ski resort of Zweissemann. We were just a short walk from the ski hire shops and all other amenities, including a well stocked supermarket.
The chalet itself was in a pleasing and attractive traditional Alpine style and was very well maintained. Each bedroom was a good size and we enjoyed a lovely, large communal area which was great to relax in after a day's skiing. The kitchen was fully equipped and boasted excellent amenities for self-catering. There was also a boot room and balconies from which to enjoy the scenic views.
Zweissemann boasts great skiing and the chalet was just a short drive or a 10-15 min walk from the nearest ski lift. You can also travel to the glacier nearby which is a lovely day trip and has excellent skiing opportunities.
I would thoroughly recommend this chalet for those looking to stay in a traditional Alpine chalet in a pretty ski resort.

"Home away from home"

Very good chalet overall.All bedrooms on top floor are the most comfortable,including the one with a double decker suitable for children.On the middle floor well equipped kitchen with dining table for 12 peoples and a big living area with a tv set.On the ground floor,2 big and comfortable bedrooms,a foyer and laundry room.There are 4 bath rooms,2 on top floor and one each on the other floor.
Nice location,15 min walk to the nearest ski slope,12 min walk to the train station and COOP.We did not need a car.
We would stay there again definitely .
