I chose to buy this property due to its wonderful location between Lake Negratin and the big town of Baza .
Everything you could ever need, be it in Zujar itself or Baza ( 10 minutes away ) is close at hand.
It's relaxed and friendly, and a world away from the Costas...and therein lies it's appeal.. !
But whilst it is very tourist / holiday friendly....the area is a working area....so expect to see people about their daily lives .
That said, for all you may think about the Spanish and ' manana ' , they are up early and work hard, interpersed with endless coffees and small meals....haha.....you will always find the cafes and bars open and busy at 10-10.30 am and for lunch too...when everyone stops to eat !.....hence everyone is happy and healthy and live long lives here !
My cave property has 2 cave beds, lounge with woodburner ,a.huge shower and bathroom, and modern entrace / dining hall......with new kitchen / dining option.
It was fully re-built only 2 years ago, at some considerable cost and by the local Spanish expert cave builder, who has made a fantastic job of it .....I originally bought it as a holiday home for myself, but so many friends have shown an interest in renting it, that I thought I might as well do so, simply to cover costs, hence the low prices per week.
It is high up above the village thus affording lovely views to the front of the village ( 3000 inhabitants and everything for your daily needs ).....and to the rear, views of the mountain called the ' Jabalcon ' , a local landmark....which is walkable , and now even drivable , offering incredible views from its 1494 metres high summit of Zujar, Baza, and the local countryside......which is named the ' Altiplano ', .....literally ' the high country.
There is a private front and lower terrace with wooden table / bench seating to enjoy your morning breakfast, and for sun lovers an upper terrace with all day sun, great views and again wooden seating . Further, off the stairs to the upper terrace there is a large room , but since it cannot access indoors, consider it a ' quiet space or storeroom for patio chairs, loungers and bbq , or bikes etc .
2 guest mountain bikes are provided , 1 mens, 1 ladies .
In cooler times logs are stored here, extra to those handy , indoors by the woodburner.
The property is very comfortable, everything is brand new ( apart from some antique or rustic furniture bought by choice ) and is fully equipped for your holiday , be it 1 week, or 3 months.....there is a 2 metre high frost free fridge / freezer and lots of storage space.
All crockery, cutlery, cookware, and glassware is supplied new.
So too is all the bedding and towels......so all you need to do , is unpack and bring your beach towels and enjoy your holiday !
A Welcome Pack is included free for all bookings of 7 nights or more !.....( but not for a 4 night mini break to keep costs down )

The Andalucia region
Zujar is a special place , situated in a valley and has a history of Cave dwelling dating back 3000 years....it's even been featured on UK TV's ' A Place in the Sun ' ( I have the video ! )....delightfully close to the massive lake Negratin , it has many beaches offering pedaloes and canoes, or playgrounds for children...often there will be a nearby bar and restaurant, where you can use the toilets and buy your drinks or ice creams.
There are 3 Hot Spring natural Spas in Zujar, next to the lake....the Geothermal waters have healing properties for aches and pains, but just enjoy a lovely hot soak in the sun , 39C water temperatures :)
It's a great place to relax and unwind...to walk or swim , to shop or eat out....there are some great bars and restaurants in Zujar , or further afield Baza and beyond.
If you feel like a day out, try a trip to the Tabernas Desert - it is Europe's only natural desert - and will be known to you, whether you realise it or not, as it was the location for many flims, like Clint Eastwood's Fistful of Dollars ( and the series ) , also Indiana Jones etc.
Now it has been made into a themed area, known as Mini Hollywood......and it's a memorable day out, maybe taking part in a mock gun fight against the ' baddies ' ?
If you are a History buff....neolithic man have left his mark on many local places with an hour's drive .
For nature lovers....wow, this is the place ! ....walks, hikes, horse riding , wonderful flora and fauna.....expect to see Eagles flying on the higher north side of the lake...but closer to Zujar, why not walk up Mount Jabalcon , all 1494 metres of it ? ( you can cheat and drive it, too !
So a car is essential to make the best of the village and area, albeit bikes are supplied , and also due to the nature of the landscape of Zujar ( and all the local villages too ) being on hilltops or in valley floors ) there are some quite steep hills around , so not to be recommended for wheelchair users or reduced mobility clients .
Known as the ' Altiplano ' ( the high country ) it has an almost endless landscape.....part lunar like, part forests, mountains and lakes and rivers with many natural waterfulls and rock pools .
The area is becoming steadily better known for its foods and wines.....and having tasted them , I can tell you they are great !
Never had a better white wine or eaten better sweeter lamb anywhere !
It's a Cave to enjoy, a village to explore, and an area to find almost anything that takes your fancy.
If the lake beaches are not enough, its not a long drive to the Coast and Mojacar, Aguilas, etc
But my bet will be , as most holiday makers, you'll want to enjoy the home, local area and soak up some sun, relax and enjoy good local foods....if so , you can't fail here !

"Our 7 week holiday"
The cave house was well equipped and cosy and warm but we only managed to stay one week eventhough we had booked and paid to stay 7 weeks. We had asked the owner Andy if there were any problems such as steep hills to climb or if parking was available beside the property as we both have serious mobility problems with emphisyma and the wife with a recent hip replacement. He assured us that there wasnt so we went ahead and paid 1400 euro's for our stay. The approach to the cave was down a steep 30deg slope for about 200m from where we were told to park the car originally. We did manage to persuade the next door owner to let us park the car closer reducing the distance to about 50 m. But we could just not cope with the access to we told Andy we'd have to leave after just 7 days. He offered us just a 225euro rebate out of the 1400 we'd paid eventhough we'd asked him before confirming and paying for the booking if there were any access problems. He denied us ever having asked the question or he would have told us. Good thing I kept all the emails and am quite happy to add them as proof. We started the enquiry in Sept previous and paid in full on the due date in December. Needless to say we felt very disappointed in the holiday and had to move elsewhere with the extra costs involved. In all fairness, I cannot fault the property but you must not have any mobility problems and above all be fit. We were lucky that the girl who looks after the property carried not only our cases down but also back up again as we would never have managed that. Great place to stay if you are fit, but no good if you have problems with breathing or old age. I just wish the owner had been a bit more honest with us
Dear Rein and Jan .... I take great pride in being a property owner and doing a good job for everyone .....but I can only work with infomation supplied to me . I did make certain to answer all and any of your enquires , whether it was about ( in your case ) your dog, suggested routes from Northern France, hotel stop-overs, wifi and TV in the cave , and parking nearby . Your only mention of your cited difficulties was after you had already paid the final balance and where almost on your way to Zujar ! ( quote from your own email ) .´And can we park the car close as Rein has mobility probs regarding distance to walk...Can manage 50 mtrs in bursts.´ to which my answer was yes, at the top of a small hill, 30 metres from the cave ..it is not the neighbours but my parking too !....More to the point , had you have pointed out the degree of your mobility details I now know....I would have advised you that I would not have accepted your booking ! as my advert already contains a clear reference to it being unsuitable . ( from my ad )...due to the nature of the landscape of Zujar ( and all the local villages too ) being on hilltops or in valley floors ) there are some quite steep hills around , so not to be recommended for wheelchair users or reduced mobility clients . Apart from this , I am sorry for your difficulties ( as I wrote to you many times ) but this is how others see the cave , village and also my totally honest approach to being a property owner ! “Awesome way of life”...... Thank you Andy for all your help.....“Cool cave!”....AMAZING!” ( where the review again states...´´ lovely little house situated at the top of a hill (not tooooo steep and easily accessed by car, but might be a bit of a trek for anyone who struggles with their fitness). Everything was as stated on the website and I really couldn't find fault with it or with Andy, the owner (from the very beginning of our queries, through booking, and throughout our holiday, he was readily available (phonecall or email) to supply us with information to enhance our holiday ´´ I think that says it all really ? Best wishes, Andy

"Awesome way of life"
Well, was looking to buy a property in Spain on the Costa, was told of the cave properties, so we booked a several nights to experience the difference between them. And what a difference. We stayed in zujar near lake nargritin, yes this unique way of life is far healthier and typically spanish, not the hustle of the cost, Andy our host was very helpful from with booking and with all our needs.. The cave had everything you need for a holiday, sun terrace, privacy and well even the kitchen sink.. The area has great shopping, seclusion and a inland beech, restaurants are plentiful and offer great food not expensive. All in all a great holiday destination and very different from the Costa's, so we hope to purchase one very soon, Thank you Andy for all your help..
