About the home

From the outside this property appears to be a traditional Valaisian Chalat but on the inside The Old House has a contemporary style that has been introduced to maximise light, space & comfort. 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, open plan kitchen / dining room with wood burning stove, loft style sitting room with audio visual gadgets, comfortable English furniture, south facing French windows & balcony. Fully refurbished to in 2007 the apartment has been finished to a very high standard. Nestled between the two five star hotels in Zermatt’s centre the Hinterdorfstr. is a charming quiet cobbled street & the oldest part of the village. Many of the buildings date back to the 1700’s. Hinterdorf is now a listed & protected area.

Best use has been made of the available space despite strict building regulations on this beautiful listed property, so the bathrooms are functional but small with showers in both & the internal staircase is very steep. There is another outside staircase that runs up the side of the building.

Deposit of 30% is payable within 10 days.
Final payment is payable 45 days before arrival.

Strictly no smoking in the apartment (smoking permitted on the balcony)

The Swiss Alps / Valais/Swiss Alps region

The Zermatt area

The car free resort of Zermatt is situated at the foot of the Matterhorn in Switzerland and offers access to a ski area of over 400km, connected to Cervinia in Italy. The village is situated at 1560m and with the highest cable car at 3888m it ensures excellent skiing in the winter & great glacier skiing in the summer. A climbers and hikers paradise with 38 peaks over four-thousand metres and breathtaking views Zermatt has something to suit everyone.

By train is the best option with only one change from all the main airports Zurich (better trains with dining / internet) is 3 hours Geneva is 3 h 40 min. Easy connections from both (train stations inside both airports) and a possiblity to obtain reduced rate train tickets if purchased before entering Switzerland. (I can advise on this). Taxi transfers available from all airports (I can organise this for you). Zermatt is a car free village so if travelling by car the you can drive as far as Tasch where you must leave the car in the main car park of one the garages and travel the last 10 minutes by train (trains run every 20 minutes) or taxi. Electro taxis are available at the train station to take you to your accommodation .
