Chalet Turquino**** (8-10 pers) is situated in a lovely position in Winkelmatten, a tranquil area on the outskirts of Zermatt, it has two, south facing balconies with spectacular uninterrupted views of the Matterhorn. Supermarket, restaurants and local bus stop just a three minute walk, an 8 minute walk to the Matterhorn cable car departure station and a further 3 minutes to the village centre. Hiking ­/ skiing trails on your doorstep. This luxurious 4-star, 2 storey, penthouse attic apartment (190sqm) comprises of four double bedrooms, 3 bathrooms (2 with bath/shower / WC & one with shower / WC) & a fifth bedroom (en-suite bath/wc) on the floor below. It has a modern fully equipped open-plan kitchen with a spacious dining area and a lounge with a wood- burning fireplace. This apartment is uniquely furnished to a very high standard and is equipped with a plasma television cable channels (English programmes), DVD, CD/Radio and internet connection. Self catered & part catered.

The Swiss Alps / Valais/Swiss Alps region

There are 4 official languages spoken in Switzerland and in the canton of `Valais` both German & French are spoken. With it's superb transportation system, Switzerland is an ideal place from which to explore in any direction. Whether travelling on foot or by rail, bus, car or boat you will be surrounded by spectacular views. You will find the highest mountains in Europe here in the Alps, among which the impressive Matterhorn and the Dufourspitze, 4,634 m (15,203 ft) are the highest point in the country. The Mont Blanc lies just across the French/Italian border and is the highest mountain in Western Europe (4,807 m, 15,771 ft).
A trip not to missed is the Glacier express which links Zermatt and St. Moritz by rail which passes through 91 tunnels and crosses nearly 300 bridges.

Zermatt / Winkelmatten area

The car free resort of Zermatt is situated at the foot of the Matterhorn in Switzerland and offers access to a ski area of over 400km, connected to Cervinia in Italy. The village is situated at 1560m and with the highest cable car at 3888m it ensures excellent skiing in the winter & great glacier skiing in the summer. A climbers and hikers paradise with 38 peaks over four-thousand metres and breathtaking views Zermatt has something to suit everyone.

How to get there

41/2 hours by train with only one change from all the main airports Geneva, Zurich and Milan. Easy train connections from Geneva and Zurich airport (train station in the airport) and a possiblity to obtain reduced rate train tickets if purchased before entering Switzerland. (we can advise on this). Taxi transfers available from all airports (we can organise this for you). Zermatt is a car free village so if travelling by car the you can drive as far as Tasch where you must leave the car in the main car park of one the garages and travel the last 10 minutes by train (trains run every 20 minutes) or taxi. Electro taxis are available at the train station to take you to your accommodation.
