Riverside in a prime position in Zell, one of the most picturesque Mosel Valley towns, is our pretty house, 'Mosel Panorama'. It's the perfect Europe Base.
Our 'Mosel Balcony' apartment is ideal to experience life in the heart of Rhineland. Enjoy the views up and down one of Europe's great rivers, to the village of Zell Kaimt opposite - and to steep hillsides of vineyards and forests.
Our building is of 5 apartments. Decor is fresh with white tiled floors, white rendered walls and ceilings. The house dates from the 1920s and was completely rebuilt in the mid 1990s. The row of houses face the river, with vineyards clinging to the hillside terraces behind.
Short stay guests can discover the local wines, walk, bike, canoe, take a ferry cruise, do day tours by coach, explore the region by bus or rail and enjoy the atmosphere of many wine cellars, cafes and restaurants. Less than 1km walk is the Mosel Erlebnisbad with indoor swimming pool, spas and saunas.
Within an easy day's travel are castles (such as Cochem, Eltz and Bernkastel), abbeys, Roman ruins, Bad Bertrich spa resort, Trier, Luxembourg, Koblenz, Mainz and the Rhine Gorges.
Long stay guests can explore Europe with the convenience of nearby 'low-cost' Hahn Airport, a major Ryanair hub, with flights direct to Canary Islands, Morocco, Spain, Majorca, Portugal, France, Sicily, Sardinia, Italy, Greek Islands, Bulgaria, Hungary, Austria, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Scotland, London and Eire. At Zell, you're in the heart of the Continent.
Internet wi-fi access is free for guests.
Shared laundry with washing machine & dryer can be used by guests for additional charge 5 EUR per load.
The former house owner Elsbeth greets new guests and lives in the top floor apartment.

About this location
The Rhineland-Palatinate region
Meandering from the east of France, the Mosel runs alongside Luxembourg, accepts the Saar tributary and enters the city of Trier. Trier was the major Roman city north of the Alps and has impressive Roman ruins.
From here to Koblenz is 200 kms and the Mosel is at its most scenic, with the Hunsruck Plateau to the south and Eifel Volcanic region to the north. The Mosel cuts its deep squiggly way through the higher countryside and the steep slopes are lined with vineyards dating back thousands of years.
Midway between Trier and Koblenz is the Zellerland Region. Really, it's got a lot. Up and down the river lie quaint villages and it would be a challenge to find any without wine-makers cellars. Many beautifully restored 'fachwerk' (timber features) houses exist, dating over 400 years. In the 18th and 19th Century, Bad Bertrich became popular as a thermal waters retreat and it offers some grand old hotels up to luxury 5* standard.
Climate is mild to warm in summer with most days between 20 and 30 degrees. Shoulder seasons are a good time for hiking and cycling. Winters can be occasional snow with the valley being protected from more extreme conditions on the plateau. Nicer winter days are often between 5 and 10C. For long-stay travellers it is worth noting that the Canary Islands av max in Jan is 22C and Ryanair fly to 4 airports there from Hahn - as well as 2 points in sunny Morocco.
Zell together with its satellite villages numbers over 4000 residents.
While the nearby town centre is traditional, 4 km away by bus (or climb!) on the plateau opposite is a major commercial centre with hospital, Globus hypermarket, Aldi and Lidl stores.
The historic spa town of Bad Bertrich is 15 km away and can be reached by bus via Alf. See bad-bertrich.de
The local transport guide can be picked up for free and includes over 100 pages on walks and bike rides - as well as bus and rail routes and times. Also see vrminfo.de ; cochem-zell.de and rmv-bus.de
Bullay station is midway on the Trier to Koblenz rail line with approx 25 trains a day.
Buses go in all directions.
Day rail and bus passes are excellent value for groups up to 5 adults.
Cruises can be taken up and down the Mosel. Times at the wharfs. Also see k-d.de (Koln-Dusseldorfer Line)
Bikes can be hired from several bike shops in town. Largest is Klaus, near the road bridge and 500m from us.
Canoes can be hired too.

Great location close to the village. Elspeth the housekeeper is very kind and ever so helpful and has made our first-time stay in Germany a very memorable one. My kids love her to bits! Thank you very… More
