The Rhineland / Rhine Valley / Rhineland Palatinate region

The Zeller Land Holiday Region is distinctive in its diversity. Both the Romans and the Celts realized this fact. It offers different facets of natural beauty: the unique viticultural landscape of the Moselle with vine-clad steep slopes and the gentle rolling hills of the Hunsrück plateau full of healthy, fresh air and undisturbed nature.
Rich heritage, the love of traditions, the cordiality of the Moselle and Hunsrück people, racy wines, regional delicacies, colourful local fairs and wine festivals, well-kept footpaths and cycling routes and water sports facilities together with friendly restaurants, wineries and hotels of all categories offer you the very best opportunity to spend a great holiday here packed with the romantic feeling of the Moselle and Hunsrück regions.
To sum up, Zeller Land Holiday Region has 7 Moselle communities and 17 Hunsrück villages making it an eldorado for cyclists, mountain bikers, ramblers, water sports enthusiasts, wine lovers and culturally interested people. Zeller Land – surrounding the “Zell Black Cat” – justifies the many holiday motives to be seen.
Explore the holiday region on foot, by bike or by boat.

The Zell area
Vineyards extend for miles along both sides of the valley, clinging to steep, stony hillsides. Vines gently scramble from one house-front to another in the town’s ancient streets. Everywhere the visitor is warmly welcomed – & invited to taste the Black Cat wines.
Today, Zell is an ideal spot in which to relax & savour the true character of the Moselle region and its people; a genuine working wine-town unspoilt by mass tourism. Its promenade running beside the calm & level waters of the Moselle create an atmosphere that refreshes body and spirit.
At a more practical level, Zell offers a number of satisfying outdoor pursuits: swimming in modern indoor & open-air pools at the “Erlebnisbad” (a combination of a swimming and sauna centre, which is free on your birthday!), fishing, rowing, miniature golf and open-air chess . . . and, of course, wandering to your heart’s content over vine-clad hillsides.

A very different holiday to what we normally take and we just needed to get away and relax which we certainly managed to do. Zell is a fantastic and beautiful little town with plenty of restaurants and bars to sample. The outdoor swimming pool at Alf went down a treat with the children and the super weather helped make it a fantastic week. The property was lovely and clean and worked well for what we needed. Facilities within the house were excellent and David & Helen are a lovely couple, make you feel very welcome, and are also very helpful and knowledgeable on the area. Would recommend the property as a good base to see a stunning area of Germany and hope to return ourselves at some time within the next couple of years. Thank you very much to you both for renting out your property to ourselves.
A great place to hide away for a break

We really enjoyed being able to get away from the rat race of busy towns for a couple of weeks. Zell is a great place and the whole area is like a series of scenes from classic nursery ryhmes - with little narrow streets, old-world houses that are all well kept and beautifully maintained. The Mosel river and surrounds are magnificent. The house is well located in the town and very well appointed with everything you need to be comfortable. There is plenty to see in the town and local area, or you can just laze around and do nothing for a few days too. David and Helen made sure we felt at home and also helped by letting us know a few of the better local places to eat and things to see.
A thoroughly enjoyable stay. A lovely house in a lovely town, with excellent weather, just what the doctor ordered.
Many thanks and good luck for next year. Len, Lora. Tom, Chloe, Lynne and Naomi.
