Winter and summer holiday – Zell am See

Beautiful town at the lake, surrounded by mountains.

Whenever you come to Zell am See it is always a special holiday experience, no matter if it is summer or winter. Experience lakes, mountains and everlasting ice at the Kitzsteinhorn glacier.

Some 100 years ago Zell am See was a rather unknown market village. Then the railway was built and Zell became an important station. The village grew and was declared a city in 1928. Today the lovely town at Lake Zell has almost 10,000 inhabitants. Also its location close to Großglockner High Alpine Road increased the importance of Zell am See, bringing many tourists to the region.

Fresh air and crystal-clear water: holidays in Zell am See

Would you like to improve your health and relax during your vacation? Zell am See is the right place then, as ist is considered a “climatic spa” since 1961. Not only the air around the town but also the water of Lake Zell is specially clean and pure. It is even classified as drinking water.

Holidays in Zell am See – urban ambience and impressive mountains

Zell's local mountain, Mount Schmittenhöhe, is 2,000m high and located directly at the town center. That is why you can find several hiking trails beginning right in town or shortly outside, not far from the center's shopping promenades. Zell am See – located in the Salzburgerland – is still a town with its original charm. Visit the weekly market on the town square.

Culinary art and après ski during your holidays in Zell am See

You will always enjoy dining in Zell am See whether you prefer traditional and regional or international cuisine. In the town center and the surrounding mountains you will find more than 100 restaurants, inns, alpine chalets and pubs. Why not try out après ski in the ski huts in winter.

Zell Am See

Lake Zell is only 2 km away and the free ski bus stops just a few steps away and takes guests to the ski areas of Kaprun and Zell am See making this an excellent location in Summer or Winter.

"Really nice apartment, GREAT customer service"

Hi,

Went to Zell with my girlfriend on 7th February. When we arrived in town we went to hire skis. Turned out that one of the gentleman working in the store also manages the apartment. This was great as after he rang his partner and gave us directions everything was smooth sailing. We drove down to the apartment, about 5 min drive from town centre, where we met Nicola. She greeted us with great cheer, shown us the apartment which was spacious, very clean, and had all the things you could ask for (all the kitchen equipment, like toaster, microwave etc,). Heating in the apartment works really well, we didn't find our selves cold at any point. TV has plenty of channels to relax to in the evening if you do not want to leave the apartment (most channels are however in German, but it was fun trying to practice my German). Local shops are very close (2 min walk down the road to Lidl or 3 min to petrol station if you need to buy cigarettes), so stocking up on food and drinks is no problem.

The nearest lift is a gondola "Areit I". It's within a walking distance. We however only walked it once after we realised that the parking near that gondola is free, and a ten minute walk (in ski and snowboard boots) was replaced by a 2 minute drive.

Shame the snow conditions weren't better in Zell am See as it seems like a great ski area, with Apres bars offering nice food and great beer... and Shnapps.

Since we had a car, we went to Kaprun for second half of the week. Car however was not essential as there is a regular bus service going to Kaprun from the bottom station of "Areit I" gondola. Kaprun is a superb area and with some snow fall, off-piste offered great powder lines.

Again, we had a fantastic time. Big Thank You to Nicola and her partner (so sorry your name escapes me) for making our holiday this much smoother and more enjoyable with great apartment and a fantastic customer service.
