The Austrian Alps region

Zell am See - Kaprun situated in the heart of the Alps in the province Salzburg is truthfully one of the most spectacular ski-regions in Austria. The two villages are 7 kms apart, hugging the Hohen Tauern mountainrange, and surrounded by the ski-mountain- peaks of Kitzsteinhorn (3.203 m ), Schmittenhöhe (2.000 m ) und Maiskogel (1.675 m). this region guarantees pure FUN!

Beginners on skis or carving pros - all winter sports fans will simply feel spoilt by 138 kilometres of downhill runs, spread out over 57 different pistes. The easy ones, marked in blue, are especially suitable for beginners. People who like it more active choose from 49 kilometres of red runs or opt for the slopes of the black category which are really hard to master.

Zell Am See

Lying snug between the shores of the beautiful Zeller Lake and the magnificent Schmittenhöhe mountain, which is known for its most breathtaking views over the Alps, this romantic resort charms every guest that was fortunate enough to experience its natural beauty.

When it comes to diversity, Zell am See is unbeatable! Here you can go shopping, experience some culture, go skiing, swimming, hiking or mountain biking and have a groovy evening out - all in one day!

4/5

"We'll be back!"

This is our 4th stay in Zell am See and the best location yet, just a 5 minute walk from the City Express lift in ski boots with kids, skis etc. Very convenient for the centre of Zell too and the bus up to the Schmittenhoe nursery slopes.

Apartment was lovely and bright with a big main bedroom and tiny second bedroom - this was fine for our kids aged 9 and 11 but wouldn't suit adults.

We loved the open plan living area, and the huge 'round the corner' sofa which isn't in the apartment photos. Also, not in the description there is a DVD player which was great for the kids.
Kitchen facilities were good and as described although 2 hot plates isn't enough, especially when electric and very slow to respond to changes in temperature. With the numbers worn off the dials too there was a lot of pan juggling to prevent boiling over / avoiding damage to the wooden work top!
If I have one criticism it would be that the cleaning wasn't thorough (considering you pay a fee). When I swept up prior to leaving there was much more than a weeks worth of dust balls!
Overall, we had a great time in a great location and would certainly stay here again when next in Zell am See.
