Bella Vista is a beautiful 2 bedroom townhouse nestling high on the hillside with BREATHTAKING VIEWS of Zambrone Beach, the Tyrrhenian Sea, Tropea and the iconic island of Stromboli. Zambrone village is an easy 20 minute stroll and here you can enjoy the weekly market and the quiet hospitality of the local bars, pizzeria, shops and cafes.
The accommodation is on two floors and sleeps 4 adults, briefly comprising 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room, kitchen/diner, two balconies, a sun terrace, garden areas and car parking. The living room sofa also converts to a bed to SLEEP AN ADDITIONAL 2 PEOPLE if required.
The adjoining property LILY ROSA also sleeps 4-6 and can be RENTED IN CONJUNCTION with Bella Vista to accommodate LARGER GROUPS.
Tropea - the 'jewel of Calabria', is 15 minutes away along the coast by car or local train, and features numerous restaurants, bars and shops as well as culture, nightlife, beaches and lots of history to explore.
The area around Bella Vista is very peaceful and features the traditional Calabrian landscape of olive groves and red onion fields. For a quiet "get away from it all" holiday, you can explore the local area on foot - everything you need is available from the local shops and markets. For trips further afield and full access to the many beautiful beaches and towns along this stunning coastline, a car is definitely recommended. Day trips to the Aeolian islands including the volcanic island of Stromboli are available from Tropea. The region's capital city, Reggio, is well worth a visit, as is Pizzo, where you can enjoy the best ice cream in all of Italy in the lively piazza.
Further details indoors:
The Bella Vista accommodation is on two levels plus a sun terrace. The ground floor has an entrance hall, two bedrooms and a family bathroom (shower, wc, basin and bidet). The bedrooms are furnished to a high standard with wardrobe and drawers for storage, good quality beds, mattresses and linen.
The stairs to the first floor open into living area which has a large, comfortable sofa (bed), Satellite TV and DVD player. This area opens onto a balcony overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. The open plan kitchen/diner is well equipped with a gas hob, electric cooker, large fridge/freezer, toaster, kettle and plenty of pots, pans, crockery and utensils. There is a small balcony off the kitchen, and a further family bathroom with shower, wc, basin and bidet.
A spiral staircase leads from the front balcony to the rooftop sun terrace, with breathtaking views of the sea, the town of Tropea and on a clear day, the active volcanic island of Stromboli. The evening sun sets behind Stromboli.
Each of the internal floors is approximately 35 square metres as is the sun terrace. In addition there are two balconies, patio areas, gardens and parking for one car immediately in front of Bella Vista.
Further details outdoors:
There is parking for one vehicle in front of Bella Vista and a large patio area with plenty of space for drying washing. The gardens provide the perfect spot for a siesta under the olive trees while the aroma of the abundant wild herbs including rosemary, fennel and oregano fill the air.
The spiral staircase leading to the sun terrace is probably not suitable for the elderly, very young or less able. This property can be enjoyed without a car as there are excellent train links from Zambrone to the airport and all major attractions, and the local village is an easy walk for daily essentials. However the walk to the station is quite steep and those wishing to explore the area more fully will require a car.
Please note that BEACH TOWELS ARE NOT PROVIDED and guests should therefore bring their own if required.

The Calabria region
The Southern Italy / Calabria region
Calabria is on the toe of the boot in southern Italy, lapped by the crystal waters of the Ionian and Tyrrhenian Seas and separated from Sicily by the Strait of Messina. The warm climate, the beautiful blue sea, rocky coasts and sandy beaches, the traditional and fresh flavours of local food and the vestiges of its ancient origins make Calabria a unique place to admire both in winter and summer.
Any wish can be fulfilled. Those who love nature, its scents and mysteries, can explore the Calabrian hinterland, discovering pure and unpolluted sceneries, where huge green belts alternate with blue lakes and falls.
If you prefer basking in the warm sunshine and diving into a crystal-clear sea, then you can choose from the many charming towns along the long Tyrrhenian and Ionian coasts. Instead those who prefer to immerse themselves in the history, then Calabria, the cradle of Magna Graecia and land of ancient settlements, offers a wide choice of churches, monasteries, castles, palaces and places where age-long traditions still survive.
Many places of interest in Calabria can be reached in under an hour, including the eastern coastline of the Ionian Sea. You can take a boat trip to the Aeolians or visit the active volcano on Stromboli to enjoy the mud spa baths on the island of Vulcano (frequent boat trips depart from Tropea or Vibo Marina). There is good snorkelling all along the coast, and Scuba diving at Groticelle and Tropea. It is a very pleasant drive down the coast to Reggio di Calabria where you can visit the famous Riace Bronzes at the museum.
Enjoy the Autumn Jazz Festival at Tropea, and many other festivals in towns and villages throughout the region. You can also visit Sicily, taking the ferry from Villa San Giovanni (departs every 18 to 20 minutes) crossing the famous Straits of Messina. Or drive into the Sila Mountains region to enjoy skiing in winter, or just enjoy the magnificent nature reserve year-round.
The Tropea / Zambrone area
Tropea is the most beautiful jewel on the Calabrian coast, and is only 10 minutes drive from Bella Vista. There are beautiful beaches, a stunning Franciscan monastery, many lively bars, shops and restaurants and historic architecture.
The local coastline offers many beautiful beaches, some with watersports and all with crystal clear water. Zambrone, like many of the pretty villages nestling along this coastline, has a grocery store, pharmacy, butchers, fishmongers, and a piazza with a choice of bars.

"Am azingly stunning views."
The house was in a quiet position with wonderful views of Stromboli, reached via a narrow, winding, and highly pot-holed road. Bella Vistabwas adequately equipped with bedrooms on the ground floor. Unfortunately the TV channels were very limited, a few bizarre Italian channels, and so we were unable to keep up with world events. October is definitely a month to visit this part of Italy; the weather was stunning, warm and sunny for seven days.
Many thanks for your feedback and we're pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay in Bella Vista. Re the pot holes - we are assured that the Zambrone Commune plan to repair them soon. Thanks for your comments re the TV channels - we plan to extend the coverage for next season.
