The Lombardy / Bergamo Alps/Sondrio region
Lombardy has Milan for the shopper in you, train service to Venice for the romantic and the famous Italian lakes. The apartment is located in the lower reaches of the Lombard Alps about 40km from Bergamo. The area offers various different hiking opportunities from beginner to profesional and is famous for its flora and fauna being a natural enclave. In winter the area offers excellent cross country skiing facilities and a small downhill piste with ski school. We also have a holiday apartment in the centre of bergamo so can offer a 2 centre holiday, with a few days in the city to see the sights. see this website property no 36251.
Zambla Alta area
Bergamo is a medieval walled city built as an enclave of the Venetian Republic. The town is divided between the upper town, walled and beautiful and the more modern lower town, with a thriving shopping district. The surrounding mountains offer a cool respite from the summer sun. Zambla Alta is at 1200m, set in the centre of the national park, nice and cool in the summer and covered in snow in the winter. The apartment is located in the village with shops, bars restaurants and a doctor. The area is also famous for the local cheese and alcohol production and you can buy the cheese directly from the farmer and the 'amaro' and 'grappa' from the bar. A bus service runs regularly to Bergamo and Milan. In winter the roads are always kept clean and access is not a problem.
How to get there
Cheap flights to Milan Bergamo with Ryanair from Liverpool, London, Newcastle and Shannon or Leeds and Manchester with Jet2. Although there is a bus service from the airport to the town and onward to the house I am offering a package including all transport. I can collect you from the airport and take you to and from the house. I can also organize tickets for football matches and concerts for those interested in the San Siro experience or the opera at Verona Arena. You can also hire a car at the airport and use the house as a base for exploring the valleys, lakes and sights of Northern Italy.

Guestbook
Hi Jonny, Me and Susy have been meaning to email you about our recent stay in your nice apartment. First of all thanks very much for your kindness and hospitality. We found it extremely interesting and were delighted overall.
Dear Jonny,
Just a quick e-mail to say thanks once again for the fabulous time we had in Bergamo. You really went out of your way to make sure we saw everything and knew lots about the area we stayed in. It was very enjoyable and your apartment in the mountains is extremely comfortable with a fantastic view and lovely restaurants around it. We will definitely be recommending it to other people.
Thank you once again and we hope to stay in Bergamo again one time.
Emma and Chris.
We really had the best time ever in Zambla, we were so lucky with the weather and the people were lovely. We really explored the area round about, did plenty of walking, plenty picnics and drank plenty of wine!! Dave and I would love to go back there next year perhaps in September if that is a possibilty. Incidently it has rained. almost every day since we got back and our tans are fading fast. Thanks for a great holiday, Liz.
