Tal Hamsa
About the home
Tal Hamsa is a magnificent flexible speceous villa.
Brilliant for large groups, it also works for more intimate parties
.
With its multi level structure, opening out to dramatic bird's eye views, is perfect for teenagers, toddlers, and grannies.
The two lower terrace bedrooms (sharing a shower room plus WC) can easily be shut off, making Tal Hamsa an extremely comfortable compact 5 bedroom villa with 4 bathrooms plus 'gents' Perfect for one family.
With its various terraces and romantic 'get away from it all' hideaways under olive trees - all with dramatic sea views - Tal Hamsa is a joy for every type of guest. There is room for everyone to be together both outside around the pool with spacious surrounding terraces and inside the villa with its large living room or alternatively one can find private little corners 'away from it all'.
Here you have for aspiring chefs a very well equipped kitchen, a large oven, 5 gas hobs, with two large fridge freezers, an ice cream freezer plus a drinks fridge. This is a joy for large house parties who can thereby avoid those endless trips to the supermarket!
Tal Hamsa, perched on a steep hill side, has spectacular bird's eye views and generally enjoys a refreshing breeze. This, with its many balconies, terraces and shaded hideaways makes it a brilliant villa to escape from the intense heat of high summer. All bedrooms have air-conditioning. For the sun lovers there are sun beds on the large deck area around the pool and other secluded shaded hideaways..
On the other hand, the large upstairs living room, with its balcony one end and a traditional fireplace the other, has two separate seating areas; this plus the large open plan kitchen/dining room with a large round dining table, makes Tal Hamsa a perfect refuge for the cooler nights of early summer and autumn. So this is the time to enjoy the astroturf tennis court which for the fit is a two minute walk away cutting across the garden, but it is also possible to drive there with an ice box of cold drinks! (we can supply rackets and balls).
The Port of Aghios Nikolas is seven minutes drive away and has a small but excellent mini market with fresh fruit and vegetables every day, a filling station, a tourist shop, a 3 star hotel and a number of lovely tavernas. One special restaurant is situated at the end of the beach, with the possibility of eating at tables on the beach. The sun beds are free for everyone.
Following the coast road in the opposite direction, after passing many tavernas and one English run restaurant with a Jamie Oliver menu, you arrive at a long beach Makri Gialos, with the usual umbrellas and pedalos - 9 minutes away.
To sum up, this is the perfect party villa, room for teenagers to chill out, perfect for mothers of toddlers to enjoy the sun or shade while their young are in the crèche, and for grandparents to get away from everyone! If you need more accommodation, Tal Hamsa can be rented with the Pink House next door, offering in all a total of 10 beds. What a party house! See Holiday Letting Advert 'Tal Hamsa + Pink House'.

Further details indoors:
Villa Tal Hamsa is a multi-level villa entered via steps leading into the spacious ground floor dining area and well equipped kitchen with a separate pantry. Two large fridge/freezers and an additional drinks fridge as well as a separate deep freeze make catering for such a large number in the hot Greek weather easy.
Wooden stairs lead to the large living room with its two sitting areas, one around the TV with bookshelves surrounding the fireplace. The other sitting area has two typical Greek stone sofas (with comfortable cushions!) looking out through French doors on to a balcony and stunning views of the coastline of Zakynthos and the Island of Kefalonia - magical at night with the twinkling lights.
Three of the bedrooms open into the living room.
On one side there is the master bedroom with its dressing room, en suite bath/shower-room and private balcony overlooking the swimming pool terrace and coast line and on the other two bedrooms which share a shower-room through individual en suite doors. One of these bedrooms opens onto the living room verandah.
Entrance Floor
Two large en suite bedrooms, (one with bath/shower-room & the other a shower-room) lead off the inside dining area, Both have French windows opening onto terraces. There is on this level an additional 'Gents'
Swimming Pool Level
A small lobby divides twin bedrooms sharing a shower-room
Next door to these two bedrooms is a large utility room.
Further details outdoors:
From the large paved parking area below Tal Hamsa steps curve up past the ping pong terrace and on to Tal Hamsa's front door.
A wide terrace with comfortably cushioned stone sofas fronts the ground floor dining area leading on to the shaded BBQ and alfresco eating area overlooking the pool.
Further on past the pool with its spacious sunbathing area white washed steps lead up to a specially private hideaway terrace with magnificent views overlooking the pool and sea.
Further details
Maid service is generally 3 times a week, but this can be everyday at an extra cost.
Re Internet Access:
We have a monthly allowance of 10 GB across all the villas. This is more than adequate for regular email usage. If you do need to download larger items we ask that guests go to the internet cafe in Katastari (a 30 min drive from the villas). Drop boxes and the downloading of films will quickly lead to the internet slowing down and eventually stopping altogether.
The system works in this way: if we exceed the 10 GB limit the wifi system first slows down and then ceases to work altogther. Additional capacity can be purchased at 25 Euro per each additional 500 MB but only within working hours (Mon-Fri 9am - 5pm). This charge where appropriate, we will pass on to our guests.
Sorry this is rather a long winded explanation but suddenly, after two years with no problems, people are now so used to broadband that they do not understand that this is Greece!
Conditions
We require payment in the following instalments:
30% to secure the booking; the balance must be paid 2 months prior to the rental.
£300 refundable deposit to be paid prior to arrival or by special arrangement we can accept cash on arrival as security against any damage to the property.
We have replaced the CD player with an iPod doc & speakers.

Enquire nowThe Ionian Islands region
The island of Zakynthos claims to have more sun than any other Greek island, and yet thanks to the winter rain, this island once called "The wooded island" by Homer, is far from arid. While the South of the island is flat and much more developed, the north is rural, with striking mountains and sweet smelling pine forests, and lower the rolling hills with their fields of wild thyme & rosemary, drop dramatically into the Ionian.
Northern Zakynthos, with its abundance of olive groves, epitomises the charming and laid back style of Greek rural living and you are likely to see goats balancing half way up an olive tree. Unspoilt family run tavernas with their shaded terraces welcome guests and offer fresh barbecued fish which may easily have been caught by the man sitting at the table next door. Everyone is amazingly friendly.
There is also a strongly religious and artistic side to the Zakynthians. The local churches and monasteries, complete with exquisite carving and gold-embellished icons are well worth a visit. Zakynthos town has an interesting museum, shaded colonnades and an excellent fish restaurant. Shopping is great and the large town square is lined with tavernas and coffee houses (delicious freshly squeezed orange juice).
The Zakynthos area
From Micro Nisi and Aghios Nicolas, you can rent a boat to explore little coves & beaches, water ski, snorkle in azure clear water. For young children wishing to 'bucket & spade' Alikes & Alikanas (25 min away) offer long sandy beaches, all the usual beach attractions, (windsurfers, pedalos, etc) and endless tavernas leading right down to the sea. There are several scuba diving centres on the island.
Enjoy the marine life with a glass bottomed boat or visit the famous Shipwreck Bay from the sea; alternatively, enjoy this spectacular sight from a cliff top viewing platform.
Nearby is the hill town of Volimes, centre for the island's weaving industry where charming local pottery, and other quality souvenirs can be bought at very reasonable prices. Beware if in Volimes for Greek Easter, the locals love to set off fire crackers as they wander in and out of the churches!
The Fish Festival is a great celebration at the end of August with the islanders coming to Aghios Nicolas where they eat and dance till the early hours. Although plate throwing has now been banned in Greece, every week the L'Astoria Restaurant, which is right on the beach of Aghios Nicolas, has its 'Greek Evening' with local dancers and hundreds of white paper napkins are thrown instead of plates - this is a great event for young children!
Sophia's Art Cafe is another quirky meeting place for young and old. The owner has filled it with her own works of art which include life size papier mache statues, exotic jewellery, and highly original paintings most of which are for sale. They also serve a multitude of hot chocolate & tea varieties as well as cocktails and some surprisingly delicious Greek wines.
