Villa | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 4
The country setting where Villa Barnhurst rests has no passing traffic, adding to the peace you will feel when you stay here. Villa Barnhurst has some fantastic features including a freshwater pool and built-in barbecue. For the ultimate in relaxation and comfort, the pool has loungers, umbrellas, hammock and shaded pagoda. The large terrace with its dining table for six and lower pool terrace provide panoramic uninterrupted views across the bay of Keri and towards the island of Marathonesi.
Situated on the south west coast of the island, Keri has been careful in its development so as not to lose its charming air of tradition and culture. The lovely old village, situated on a green hill high above the liminaki (or little harbour) known as Keri Limni is a great place for some lunch in one of the Tavernas around the harbour, then Keri Village a little bit further along is full of traditional stone houses, quiet narrow streets and its own exquisite little church. Beyond this is the lighthouse and the famous viewing point where the chance to take in some of the most dramatic sunsets imaginable is not to be missed
In the harbour itself, the fabulous beach of sand and fine shingle shelves gently into crystal clear waters whilst the handful of waterfront tavernas - noted for their excellent food - and cafe bars provide a totally relaxed and low-key backdrop. From here you can hire a boat for the day or take an organised trip across to the island of Marathanisi with it huge sandy beaches or visit (and swim in) the beguilingly beautiful Keri caves.

The Ionian Islands region
The Ionian Islands are located in the Ionian Sea, off the west coast of Greece and are composed of Corfu, Kefalonia, Zakynthos, Lefkada, Ithaca, Paxos and Kythira. The islands are well known for their beautiful sandy beaches, crystal clear waters, charming villages and stunning scenic countryside which is verdant and flourishing with greenery and nature. Each Ionian island has a distinct character and between them they offer everything you could wish for from a Greek Island holiday.
The islands have a mild and temperate climate which makes them the ideal location for vacation or residence. In winter, the mountains of Central Greece stop the cold northern winds from reaching the islands while, in summer, the heat is tempered by the meltemia, the soft, northwestern winds, and the sea breezes. Due to the air currents prevalent on the Ionian islands, many of the island beaches have developed into internationally acclaimed windsurfing centers.
There are 7 islands in the Ionian Sea, Zakynthos is the third largest island after Corfu and Kefaloniá.
The beautiful Greek island of Zakynthos is known also as Zante.
Zákynthos is a verdant island endowed with fertile valleys and a temperate climate (area: 406 sq. km; coastline: 123 km). Its landscape diversity has resulted in different types of beaches: there are sandy beaches in secluded coves where the tranquil waters are deep blue on the island's southeastern part; yet, if rugged cliffs and an interesting underwater world are to your liking, try the western part of the island.
The Venetians, who ruled Zákynthos from 1484 to 1797, called the island “Fioro di Levante” (flower of the East) as there are over 7,000 species of flowers on Zákynthos.
On Zante, great care is taken to protect two endangered animal species, namely the caretta caretta sea turtle and the monachus monachus seal which can been seen during the summer months in the crystal blue waters around the island.
Also the famous Blue Cave and the Smugglers Wreck (Navaggio) is an accurate representation of the island around the world and some of the most visited sights. You can choose to sunbathe and swim in crystal clear waters of the sea, diving or a cruise around the island, mountain expedition or just relaxation and quiet atmosphere here.
Zakynthos is the ideal destination for the eyes, mind and soul.
