VILLA CARA
About the home
Villa Cara is beautifully positioned with elevated, breathtaking, uninterupted, panoramic sea views from all rooms in the quiet and peaceful area of Xigia on the north east coast. It is only minutes away from the sandy beach resorts of Alykes and Alykanas (extensive and gently shelving suitable for families and couples) and the charming Port St Nicholas where you can get the ferry to Kephalonia or rent a boat to explore secluded bays, numerous sea caves and the world renowned Navagio ( Shipwreck Bay). A 2 minute walk will take you to pretty Xigia beach (where the sea has natural health spa waters) and a short drive to Makris Gialos beach (so beautiful you will want to stay there forever). There is a local taverna within two minutes walking distance and several outstanding tavernas just a few minutes drive along the coast road (Xigia Taverna at the top of the bay is a must). The nearest village, Orthonies, has a mini market and coffee shop. Volimes (10 mins drive) has more excellant traditional tavernas, a post office and some small shops offering hand made products such as carpets, llinen, earthenwear and pottery. Zakynthos capital town and port is a 20 minute drive away and is definitely well worth a visit for sightseeing, shopping and also more excellent tavernas. The villa has been furnished to an excellent luxurious standard and is set within its own gated gardens with private pool. There is an open plan kitchen/dining/living area (with log fire) and leading from the living room is a spacious terrace with stunning sea views and facilities for al fresco dining. There is one double and two twin bedrooms all with balconies with outstanding sea views - perfect for watching the beautiful sunrise every morning.

The Ionian Islands region

Zante or Zakynthos as it is known, is one of the favourite Greek islands. The southernmost and reputedly sunniest of all the Ionian islands, Zakynthos is also the most fertile, colourful and quite possibly the most beautiful too. Fringed with magnificent sandy beaches (many with nothing more on their shores than a solitary taverna), lapped by crystal clear amethyst seas and with a backdrop of rugged mountains covered with forests and olive groves, few who visit could fail to be captivated by its natural charm.
The Zakynthos / Xigia area
The towns of the island bustle and thrive with everyday life. The capital Zakynthos Town is beautiful and full of the influence of its Italian ancestors that it is regularly referred to as 'the Venice of the South'. Here you will find shops, banks, museums, tavernas, an outside cinema and the main hospital. Zakynthos is rich in beauty and tradition, both historical and cultural and it is this, combined with the famous Zakynthian hospitality, that has visitors returning to its shores year after year - including the Loggerhead turtle! As one of the last remaining nesting sites of the endangered 'Carreta-Carreta', to the south, the dramatic Gerakas peninsular has recently been designated the first protected marine park in the Mediterranean. To the north there are the blue caves which are popular with scuba divers and the famous Navagio Shipwreck bay - only accessible by sea.The Peligoni Club is only 10 minutes away, ideal for families, it offers sailing & windsurfing as well as bars and restaurant which are open to all.For water lovers and particularly children, there is Water World, about 15km away on the road to Zakynthos town.

Lovely villa in a lovely area. Swimming pool was nice & great views. If you're looking for a quiet, relaxing time, not doing anything then you may not need a car but if you fancy going out on your holiday then you'll definitely need a car as there isn't much within walking distance. The villa was in good condition & maintained well by the cleaners. |

Beautiful villa located on the quiet north east shore of Zakynthos. Very comfortable and well appointed with own pool. Lovely beaches and coves within walking distance. Enjoyed watching birds and bats dipping into pool to drink! Plenty of good local tavernas offering traditional Greek food and hospitality. Car essential as nearest village with shops is a few km away. |

I have just returned form holidaying in this Villa and am still dreaming of those beautiful sunrises that poured in through the bedroom window every morning. What a perfect start to the day. The Villa was wonderful - immaculately clean and tidy when we arrived and more than comfortable - the location is awesome: peace and tranquility personified but within easy reach of beaches (Xigia is just gorgeous) and relative nightlife if so desired. The local tavernas offered amazing food at value for money prices with excellent friendly service. I can't remember the last time I unwound so quickly. Can't wait to go back! |
