The Ionian Islands region
The Ionian Islands are located in the Ionian Sea, off the west coast of Greece and are composed of Corfu, Kefalonia, Zakynthos, Lefkada, Ithaca, Paxos and Kythira. The islands are well known for their beautiful sandy beaches, crystal clear waters, charming villages and stunning scenic countryside which is verdant and flourishing with greenery and nature. Each Ionian island has a distinct character and between them they offer everything you could wish for from a Greek Island holiday.
The islands have a mild and temperate climate which makes them the ideal location for vacation or residence. In winter, the mountains of Central Greece stop the cold northern winds from reaching the islands while, in summer, the heat is tempered by the meltemia, the soft, northwestern winds, and the sea breezes. Due to the air currents prevalent on the Ionian islands, many of the island beaches have developed into internationally acclaimed windsurfing centers.
There are 7 islands in the Ionian Sea, Zakynthos is the third largest island after Corfu and Kefaloniá.
The beautiful Greek island of Zakynthos is known also as Zante.
Zákynthos is a verdant island endowed with fertile valleys and a temperate climate (area: 406 sq. km; coastline: 123 km). Its landscape diversity has resulted in different types of beaches: there are sandy beaches in secluded coves where the tranquil waters are deep blue on the island's southeastern part; yet, if rugged cliffs and an interesting underwater world are to your liking, try the western part of the island.
The Venetians, who ruled Zákynthos from 1484 to 1797, called the island “Fioro di Levante” (flower of the East) as there are over 7,000 species of flowers on Zákynthos.
On Zante, great care is taken to protect two endangered animal species, namely the caretta caretta sea turtle and the monachus monachus seal which can been seen during the summer months in the crystal blue waters around the island.

"Well equipped, relaxing location"
Kalamaki court is a lovely place. The villa is very well equipped and tastefully decorated as well as being very practical, but be warned it does not have 2 bathrooms, downstairs there is a cloakroom … More

We have to give the 'Kalamaki Court' a five star rating. We were very lucky and had the whole complex virtually to ourselves. The complex is very well maintained and nothing is too much trouble for Linda the site Manager. The villa itself is charming, it has all you need if you are self cattering. The pools are lovely and not at all cold even though they arn't heated. The sunbeds are comfortable with the added advantage you don't have far to walk to your fridge for a cold beer. One tip I would pass on though is that you close your shutters at nights and the internal doors and take advantage of the air conditioning as the wild life are rather noisy during the night and early in the morning.
When you arrive at Kalamaki Court the key compartments are in the first car spaces on your right. The directions to the villas are sadly lacking, so when you turn left off the main road at the yellow phone box you will pass some chickens on your right, then take the next right and keep right, follow the track for a short while and you have arrived.
The weather was fantastic by the way. We hope you enjoy the experience as much as we did.
