About the home
Porta del mar is a small family-run resort of 8 stone villas for summer holidays with direct access to a sandy beach. The villas are self-catered and accommodate up to 6 persons (1 or 2-bedroom villas). They all form a horse shoe design, facing towards the sea and are traditionally and tastefully decorated. Amazing sea views are obtained from both the gardens and inside the villas!
All villas have spacious living rooms, large bedrooms with queen-size beds or twin single beds, all with solid, wooden ceilings and air-conditioning. Fully equipped kitchens include cooker, big fridge/freezer, wooden table that seats 4-6 and a full range of utensils. Their verandas are spacious offering panoramic sea views. The villas are situated directly on our sandy, quiet beach and are surrounded by well kept and relaxing gardens. The beach is safe for children and the waters are clear, crystal and rather shallow. Everything you need lies within short walking distance from the villas (groceries, bakery, taverns).

1-Bedroom villas (50 m2, ground floor, suitable for 2 adults and 2 small children) include:
A comfortable bedroom with air conditioning and with a large veranda facing towards the gardens and the sea. Next to the bedroom there's a spacious bathroom with bath and shower. At its other end, an LCD TV/DVD set is at your disposal. Children would sleep comfortable in the living room area, in the double sofa bed of size approximately 1,95m length X 1,60m width when opened. The living-room area also includes a 6-seat table and a window-door leading to the seafront veranda.
All rooms are tastefully and traditionally decorated. The high wooden ceilings and the hand made iron bed, combined with the strong, stone-built walls, create a magic atmosphere for your holiday. In a few words, the bedroom is equipped with: Feather pillows and orthopedic mattress, Spacious wardrobe, Mirror, Closet, Night table, 100% cotton towels in various sizes, Hairdryer and 21-inch satellite LCD-TV-DVD player.
Both verandas are fully equipped with table for eating-out at fresco, chairs, sun beds and sun-umbrellas: One is facing the garden and the sea and the other has direct, panoramic sea-view! Direct sea-views are obtained also from inside the villa!!

Our own private bar is located in the beautiful landscaped gardens just above the seafront. It offers breakfast, lunch, refreshments and light snacks throughout the day. We also hold a BBQ once or twice a week and make PIZZAS in our clay oven. This offers our guests the chance to share their different cultures!
We prepare local food with fresh ingredients, according to the old Zante tradition. Next to the villas, Tasos grows all the basic vegetables for the daily needs of our guests(tomatoes, cucumbers, aubergines, courgettes, melons, green peppers, onions etc.).
Our family lives on the property and its members will:
Welcome you and show you your villa on your arrival, provide you with detail information about the location, the island and its various activities or sites of interest, organize your rental car, if you so wish, with the best rates on the island, delivered at the airport or at your villa (car is not necessary unless you aim to explore the island). Serve you food and drinks at the residence snack bar on the beach-front garden, organize every so often BBQ or Pizza evenings in our clay oven (only for our guests).
Conditions
To secure bookings, we require a 30% booking deposit. We will provide you either with our PayPal or our Bank account details on request. The balance is paid after your arrival. NO EXTRA OR HIDDEN COSTS!

The Ionian Islands are located in the Ionian Sea, in the western part of Greece. The Ionian Sea is also called the Adriatic sea. The Ionian are some of the most popular Greek islands and attract a lot of people from all over Europe. They are composed of Corfu, Lefkada, Kefalonia, Zakynthos, Ithaca, Paxoi and Kythira. These islands are known for their beautiful beaches, their charming villages and their verdant landscapes.
The Zakynthos / Amoudi - Psarou Beach area
Psarou-Beach area is situated between the resorts of Amoudi and Tsilivi, on the North East coast of Zakynthos Island and is just 12 km away from Zante town.
You will not find a more idyllic spot anywhere on the island. Porta del mar villas are a quiet and peaceful haven, located over the Ionian Sea, where on a clear day you can see out to the island of Kefalonia. The pretty cove exactly next to the villas provides a safe beach for children and crystal clear waters.
The surrounding unspoilt countryside provides interesting walks through the beautiful olive fields. Within walking distance (50 – 200 meters long) you can find many local, family-run Greek taverns, mini-markets and a bakery for your daily needs. To explore Zakynthos Island, car/bike hire is available.
The weather in Zakynthos (Zante) is a typical Mediterranean climate consisting in hot, sunny summers and mild, rainy winters. Known to be one of the sunniest places in Greece, rainy days in summer are very rare in the island of Zakynthos.
During winters, rainfall is quite high as is the level of humidity; those are the reasons of the extreme fertility. Zakynthos is much greener than many other Greek islands and the climate is favourable for the cultivation of olives, citrus fruits and wines.

The weather in April is most of the times nice and sunny. Zakynthos Island looks amazing as spring time goes by. Flowers are blooming, spring colors are everywhere in the green fields and the views are fantastic. In May, days are even longer, nature is bright, and the sea water is starting to get really warm (we also start swimming in late April). In June, July and August, the warmest months of the season, the morning and evening temperature is usually excellent but during the day, it can be hot. All night long you can enjoy Greek food and drinks sitting in a T-shirt on nice taverns or bars next to the sea!
October is mostly sunny and warm with a small possibility of rainfall. The sea-water however is warmer than in May with a bit cooler evenings.

Porta del Mar-Traditional Beach Villas are just 17 Km from the airport. Taxi service is outside of the airport 24/7, but we could also organize your car rental free delivered at the airport (Car hire is not necessary unless you aim to explore the Island).
Psarou Beach area (where the villas are) is situated between the resorts of Amoudi and Tsilivi, on the North East coast of the island of Zakynthos and is just 12 km away from Zante town.

So sorry for not writing sooner but as you will realise we very quickly get sucked back into work and holidays become a dream. However I just wanted to thank you both for your hospitality this year. We all enjoyed our stay very much. It is difficult to say which bit gets the most votes, we thought our boat trips were fantastic, we enjoyed our time lazing around on your new balcony and we loved the social evenings in the bar made special by your company. We met so many lovely people this year and hope that we will be able to stay in touch with some of them.
I am sure we will come again, whether that is next year or the year after it is too soon to say but I will be in touch.

Thank you all so much for making our stay at Porta del mar such a happy time. We really enjoyed every minute of our stay. Once again a great mix of nationalities and personalities!! Elina, I'm afraid the nails are back to normal but I look forward to more artistic 'painting' next year. When you come over to London at the end of your season we were wondering if you have a spare day whether you would like to come over and stay a night at our home. We would pick you up from the station and take you out to an English country Pub for drinks and a meal.

What a terrible holiday!
The sky was much too blue.
The sea was much too clear.
The beach was much too sandy.
You were all much too friendly and helpful.
The bear was too cold.
The food was too delicious.
The music was too melodic.
The garden was too safe for children to play.
The hammock was too comfortable.
Next year we will spend a week at the dentist ‘s surgery instead of returning here. The only thing I enjoyed were the mosquitos , who were very friendly.
