About the home

Ariadne is a beautiful stone house located in the hills of Northern Zakynthos facing the Ionian Sea. With a fantastic bougainvilliea covered terrace, this is a perfect spot for entertaining friends or leisurely lunches in the afternoon sun.

Through the front doors is the huge living area, with a self contained kitchen and a Mediterranean style dining table. This area is light and airy and opens on to a split level terrace set amidst colourful bougainvilliea. The terrace is equipped with a barbeque and a large outdoor table, perfect for hosting al fresco dinner parties. On the lower terrace is the large swimming pool with a generous sun terrace and an abundance of trees, providing natural shade.

To the left of the main entrance is the double en suite bedroom. Down the stairs is a twin en-suite bedroom with large windows overlooking the surrounding hills. Further down the stairs, on the lower level of the house, lie two twin rooms which share a bathroom. These two bedrooms open on to the lower terrace by the swimming pool.

(Due to the steep staircase, Ariadne is not suitable for very young children)

Enjoying seclusion and privacy, this villa is a peaceful and relaxing home. The large infinity swimming pool is surrounded by lots of sunbathing space.The private garden is well kept and colourful making this villa a truly magnificent location for a tranquil break from the stresses of modern life.

The Ionian Islands region

Zakynthos is a beautiful Ionian island, just South of Kefalonia, which benefits from long hot summers and wet winters making it greener than many of the other Greek islands. The Northern tip of the island remains rural and unspoilt by tourism, boasting a stunningly beautiful rocky coastline, turquoise blue seas, monastery ruins and phenomenal views, making it a perfect walking, painting, sailing, snorkelling, wind-surfing and villa holiday location.
If it's traditional Greece you're after then a couple of miles down the coast is Agios Nikolaos, the small rustic port of the Skinari area. With its sand beach, the port is the perfect place to sit at a simple Greek taverna next to the water’s edge watching the colourful fishing boats bobbing around. From here you can also organise boat trips to the famous Blue Caves and Shipwreck Beach. Alternatively head up to the mountain village of Volimes complete with old Greek men and women sat outside watching the world go by and local “Carretta carretta” rugs on sale.

The Zakynthos / Port Nicolaos area

There is plenty to do! The Peligoni Club, a sailing and windsurfing club with restaurant, bar, swimming pool and tennis court, is ideally located just down the coast. The club is the perfect place for families with kids and teenagers to spend some time together with plenty to get involved in, from tennis tournaments, sailing races and ringo competitions to one-on-one tuition in all water sports.
The club also caters for adults looking for the ultimate island getaway offering a variety of massage and beauty treatments at their spa and plenty of secluded areas for some relaxing in the sun. There are also adult tennis tournaments, water-sports and backgammon sessions, all complimented by an extensive menu at the restaurant and fantastic wine list at the bar. The club also has a twice weekly 'party night' with hog roast, BBQ and music until the early hours at the bar.

There are direct flights from most UK airports to Zakynthos (Zante) with most departures being on Thursday or Sunday. Airlines that fly to Zakynthos (Zante) are Easyjet, Thomas Cook, Thomson and Monarch. Flights can often be cheaper by mixing and matching flights from different airlines.
The villa is 45 minutes drive from the airport so hiring a car is strongly advised and can be arranged for you.
