The White House
About the home
'The White House' is a quiet haven on the outskirts of the village. It is ideal for the couple who want to get away from it all and have some quality time together! We are situated a mere 10 minutes from the beach - a pleasant, short walk through the village - you can borrow a couple of our sun loungers! In the evening you can relax on the terrace with a glass of excellent local wine and watch the locals play boce (their form of bowls) - it can get quite heated at times!
This property is spacious and airy, with loads of day light making it feel really homely. It is furnished to a high standard in a contemporary but cosy style, with comfortable and luxury furnishing.

The Dalmatia region

The long, rugged Dalmatian coast, backed by high mountains with hundreds of offshore islands, is becoming Europe's most popular vacation spot. In summer, Dalmatia is flooded with tourists attracted by the sun, scenery and marvellous, healthy, Dalmatian cuisine. The coast is dotted with everything from major towns and cities such as Šibenik, Trogir, Split and Zadar, to picture-perfect beaches such as lovely Brela Beach.
Average temperatures are: May 22 C, June 26 C, July 30 C and August 29 C but temperatures in July and August often reach the high 30s.
There are a number of beautiful national parks in Dalmatia which are worth a visit. For details please go to http://www.find-croatia.com/national-parks-croatia.html.
The Zadar / Bibinje area
Bibinje is probably the most ideally situated resort in the Zadar area. It is a REAL village with its own character and vibrancy. It is a mere ten minutes by bus to the main bus station in Zadar. Also, as a base to travel from, it is ideally located on the Zadar - Split - Dubrovnik coastal road but the White House is 5 minutes maximum from the fast highway access road.
Zadar is rich in history and also modern amenities. New attractions include the water organ and the Salute to the Sun. For more information please go to http://www.zadar.hr/English/Default.aspx
Prepaid SIM cards can be purchased locally. This is a much cheaper way of keeping in touch with family and friends back home. Card costs 50 kuna and then you are charged 1 kuna per min / SMS or MB of data (plus 0.29kn set-up for each call)
Bibinje is the largest village in Dalmatia with approximately 4kms of coastline with beaches and pathways. It is ideally situated, whether you are going to visit the nearby national parks, including the Kornati Marine National Park, or just to relax by the sea. The town museum offers an interesting collection of exhibits of life in Croatia and in the John the Baptist's Church you can see sacred 15th century exhibits.
Marina Dalmatia is on the outskirts of Bibinje and has various facilities. It is the largest Adriatic marina with 1,400 berths. Most of the Croatian based charter companies are based here.

The White House apartment is deceptive: on first viewing it seems small, but it is very well designed and appointed, and there is in fact plenty of room for two, with dining area and large sofa bed. Don't worry about it being a sofa bed either- it's very comfortable indeed, top quality; and I write as someone who generally can't stand the things. We both found it very comfortable to stay in. It sits in a pine wood, meaning an open, wild, pine-scented pine wood, not some dreadful UK plantation. Neighbouring properties are at a reasonable distance. Best of all are your hosts. Eddie & Linda give the best of welcomes. Eddie will give a guided tour of the village by car, which is hugely useful in getting orientated, and the two of them are perfect hosts- friendly, always on hand for advice, a blether, and/or a beer, but respecting your privacy absolutely. It's perfectly situated for Zadar- about 15 minutes to the old town by car. Supermarkets, including a monster Spar International (not your UK corner shop) and a standard Lidl, about 10 minutes away. Highly recommended for couples wanting a quiet place to stay that's still handy for town. |
Guestbook for The White House
Dear Eddie and Linda
Thanks a million for looking after me so well during my stay. You couldn't have done more to make me feel welcome. I will surely return soon. All the best, Brian. May 2011
Dear Eddie and Linda
Zadar will forever be in our memory after a fantastic stay at the White House and a surprise engagement one beautiful sunset at the sea organ/salutation to the sun. We will most definitely return.
We are very grateful to our friends (Leone and Callum)for recommending staying with you both and will continue to recomment to anyone thinking of a trip to Zadar in the future.
Thank you for all your help and advice. Kirsty and Michael. May 2011
Dear Eddie and Linda
Zadar will stay in my memory for a long time. What a wonderful and unique city, Even the pouring rain in Split has not dampened my determination to return and see more of this beautiful country.
You have been perfect hosts, so helpful and hospitable, and the apartment is perfectly equipped with everything you could need - a home from home.
Best wishes to you both. Annie April 2011
Affable hosts
Everything my mate Annie said I echo - even having the car towed to the pound could only add to the adventure. Back sooner rather than later.

Hi Eddie and Linda .....
I hope this finds you both well and in good spirits ... Angela and I have made it back to Scotland ok, but I have to admit that its been a bit tough trying to adjust to the lack of sunshine ... and Ožujsko :)
We want to say a big thanks to both of you for helping us have such a wonderful stay in Zadar, and we will not hesitate to recommend this part of Croatia to all our friends.... with its superb location, fabulous weather, beautiful clear sea, friendly people, good food, interesting places to see etc, its a fantastic destination .... and now that we have experienced the "Eddie and Linda pain- free holiday arrangement" method of going there, we will be recommending that also!!
You not only took care of all of our accommodation arrangements at very short notice, at the height of the season, with no fuss at all (two phone calls) ... you picked us up on arrival ... dropped us off for departure ... and were always just a phone call away for any info/help we might need.
We loved the excellent apartment you arranged for us and we would not hesitate to stay there again -- Mariana (the owner) was super friendly, and very helpful ....we also really appreciated the way in which you imparted all the expert local knowledge you have gained from living in Zadar for years, in such a laid back, helpful and friendly manner, so that all the choices we made were informed - but very much our own... that sensitivity seems to be at the heart of what makes everything you do so personal and valuable, not just for us, but I’m sure for everyone who comes into contact with you... We will certainly come back to Zadar ... and definitely via Eddie and Linda!!!
Good luck, best wishes and thanks for all your help ... Hugh & Angela, August 2010
Dear Linda and Eddie, forever thanks for this 2010 holidays.
Thera and I wanted to experience the Mediterranean seas blue shades from the Adriatic side and we've had our share.
Who better hosts than you Scottish people for a pair od Nordic/Italian, in this for us unknown land.
Zadar is a beauty and one easily falls in love with it.We love Bibinje with its easy laidback countryside and the stunning sunsets at Pumperela gourmet corner.
Thanks for taking care of us!
Take good care, and from the core of our hearts; THANK YOU!
Annalisa and Thera: Oslo
Thank you for making my first visit to Croatia so welcoming and relaxing. I have fallen in love with the old town of Zadar and sleepy Bibinje.
The studio is so cosy and I felt right at home.

From the moment we arrived in Bibinje you have shown us kindness. The extra effort you put in to make little Fraser happy and content was much appreciated.
We shall leave with wonderful memories of our time in Bibinje which has proved to be an excellent base from which to explore the sights and tastes of Dalmatia.
Best wishes for the future, warmest wishes.
Ray, Lorraine and Fraser Carstairs July 2009
We've both had a wonderful two weeks here – all we'd hoped for and more. You've been unfailingly friendly, considerate and knowledgeable: the perfect hosts! The studio is easily the best equipped self-catering accommodation we've had (- and we've had lots!); comfortable bed, quality kitchen stuff, spotless bathroom, books etc all provided, not to mention wi-fi.
We'll be back, no doubt about it.
Thank you!

Thanks Eddie and Linda for being great hosts. Shared a few laughs together. Shared a few bottles of wine together. Believe you have the right feel for everyone's needs and act on those instincts. Enjoyed your company.
Your knowledge and experience have been a great help and made us look forward to returning to Croatia in the future. All the best
