The Zadar area
Arbanasi, once an autonomous village and today a part of the city Zadar, was founded in the first half of the 18th century by the Albanians who had come as immigrants from the Skadar Lake area. It was the area of the former so called Turkish Albany. From the half of the 18th century till 1921 the majority of the families from Arbanasi considered themselves and also felt as the Croats from political-national point of wiev. The proof can be found in the fact that once there was The Croatian Library in the village as well as in the results of the county elections in the last decades of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy.
