From the owner

Off the main road, down the winding path, with a view directly over the river Bradford, Riverdale View is the perfect Peak District get away if you want nature on your doorstep. Walk right from the door to the stunning countryside all around. Stylishly refurbished using Farrow & Ball heritage colour palate throughout, in keeping with the traditional limestone and original features including red quarry tiles and stone hearth. The front room has a traditional oak table and 4 cottage style pine chairs for dining. Wi-fi and TV with freeview plus extra HDMI socket for your own devices (do bring your own cables). Pull off your walking boots whilst resting on the antique church pew. Dim the antler chandelier lights and snuggle up with a glass of wine and a cosy fire from the wood burning stove. Contemporary kitchen with an old cottage twist with ceramic sink and brick tiles. Microwave, kettle, toaster, Washing machine (not dryer), fridge (with freezer compartment). Upstairs the stunning bathroom features the rare polished local limestone panel wall -packed full of fossils for you to curiously explore whilst you relax in the roll top bath or refresh with the overhead rain shower. Two double bedrooms with direct front views over the dale. Quality goose and feather duvets, linens and white fluffy towels provided. The L Shaped sofa in the lounge easily sleeps a single, and opened up, a comfy night's sleep for two. Extra double and single duvets provided. Sit outside on the bench or lower patio bistro table and chairs and just take in the freshest country air and listen to nature all around. Look for kingfishers, wagtails, meadow brown and peacock butterflies, and at night - owls, hedgehogs, bats and a billion stars. All without walking anywhere! Just 28 steps down from the cottage is the shallow crystal clear water - more stream than river, fast flowing over little weirs and rocks, if you're lucky you may spot a trout (and try and tickle it). There is a designated wild swimming area for the brave (safe at standing height). All the water coming in to the property is this from the Youlgreave village Water Company. Natural Mineral water straight to the tap, so drink up and notice how super soft and bouncy your hair is after washing it up here! Sorry no dogs. No smoking inside the property please.

3 pubs in the village. 2 stores on main street: Deli for homemade meat pies, cheeses & cafe. the post office shop (general groceries, alcohol)

Peak feast - Vegetarian homemade produce. inc Gluten free cakes and pies, outdoor cafe

Steep path down (with side rails tho) to the cottage - so suitable for able walkers only. Wear suitable footwear. Parking at the top of Bankside on the main road or free car park 200 yds along

House rules

Lovely for children here tho it is a steep path down from the main road - although this is the regular walking path to the river. Has railings and cobbled in parts and there is a bench half way down. The peak district is hilly and dry stone walls a feature, so use caution with young ones! Many children have had a great time staying here though - the wild swimming area is waist/chest height and generally shallow in other areas. Flat grassy open field by the river directly below for gentle walking
