The County Cork region

Activities in East Cork and the Cork Harbour region include some of the best golf in Ireland, walks, cycling, deep-sea and river angling, sailing, water sports and sea adventures taking in whale watching and amazing wreck diving. For family fun there is an amazing(fota) wildlife park, a holiday village (trabolgan), and a huge variety of family friendly activities & entertainment.

Attractions to visit on your vacation to east Cork and Cork Harbour can include an excursion to one of our cultural & heritage centres in Youghal, Midleton or Cobh, or a stopover to see a historic site, museum, craft centre or garden.

Enjoy your holiday or mini break to this exceptional region in South West Ireland!

Redbarn is a blue flag beach which has a hotel/leisure centre there. The hotel serves food daily and has nightly entertainment.

Youghal is the nearest town to redbarn which is a 1 mile walk on the beach. It is now recognised as south coasts most popular resort. This stunning holiday destination has been awarded an EU Blue Flag for the beach at Claycastle near the town centre.

The adventurous holiday-maker can choose from a range of activities including power-boating, dinghy-racing, yacht cruising, whale watching, even wreck-diving!

For those looking for a more laid-back experience, visitors can take a relaxing cruise or fishing trip on the Blackwater river - one of Europe's most unspoilt rivers.

Perks Family Entertainment Centre and the Aura Leisure Centre is a must for all the family.

But this resort is not just about the sea...

It's about the 'craic' in the bars, the live music, the world famous seafood restaurants, the golf and greyhound racing.

What sets Youghal apart from other resorts however, is its natural beauty, with stunning walks and cycle routes along ecology areas to the historical town centre. Youghal is also a perfect base in which to explore the beauty of East Cork and West Waterford.

You can explore the walls and one of the towers from which it is possible to make out the original layout of the town. Full details on the historic buildings in Youghal, such as the Watergate, Myrtle Grove, Tyntes Castle and St. Mary's Collegiate Church. The most notable (and photographed) building in the town centre is the fine Clock Tower in the main street, built in 1776 as a gaol (jail) to imprison the renegade Catholics. It was routinely used as torture chamber and was universally regarded as a symbol of terror and tyranny!

Youghal is ideally geographically positioned. It's where the beauty of East Cork merges with stunning West Waterford and serves as a perfect base for the holidaymaker. With access to both Cork and Waterford Airports only a 45 minute drive away.
