The Yorkshire region
The city of York has a wealth of history with remains from the Roman & Viking ages. York also has the United Kingdom's largest Gothic cathedral - York Minster. It is a work of beautiful craftsmanship and art, the Minster is surrounded by many streets with their ancient and timber-framed buildings allowing the visitor to immediately step back into the past.
York is also home to the 'National Railway Museum' which is close to the city centre and York's main line railway station. The display's and working examples take you form the very beginning of rail travel right up to the present day.
The river Ouse flows through the city centre with many boats, of all shapes and sizes, available to the visitor to explore the city from a different aspect.
York is a lively place and has plenty of things to do and see. Street entertainers, musicians and special music and light shows entertain the visitor throughout the year.
York is an ideal place to stay, it is not too far from the Yorkshire Coast or the Yorkshire Dales. It is very close to the Yorkshire Wolds, which are not as famous as the Dales, but are the inspiration for the latest work by famous Yorkshire artist David Hockney.

"A real York experience"
After travelling though Europe we felt a strange feeling of homeliness as we arrived at the York Train Station to a coat of arms and the words 'Welcome to York'. This feeling was only strengthened when we arrived at our beautiful little terrace home at 16 Park Crescent. Landlord Paul was not only welcoming, but obviously very proud of their property. Thoughtful tittle touches were evident everywhere - the jug had been boiled, coffee, tea, milk and a number of storable food items were in stock (saving us that horrible shopping trip before we could enjoy a cuppa). Lovely ornaments discreetly decorated the living rooms and there was an array of terrific books. My wife and I stayed with three of our adult children. There was ample room and the place was warm and secure and best of all, only five minutes walk to The Shambles or a pint of Guinness by a fireplace at one of those beautiful old pubs. It was so good, we extended our initial five nights to seven nights - it really was a home away from home and provided us with an unforgettable York experience. B&K.

Very nice house, well equipped with comfortable beds
If the bathroom was upstairs it would be perfect, but otherwise can't fault it . Handy location for the city centre, easy parking outside, with permit provided.
