York is a beautiful city in its own right, yet, is also a fantastic location to access the Yorkshire Coast, the Dales and cities for shopping e.g. Leeds and Harrogate. There are a wealth of fabulous beauty spots and places of interest both within York and within a short drive.

Local places of interest are Castle Howard, Beningborough Hall and Harewood House - fine stately homes. Pickering with it's steam railway, historic Knaresborough with Mother Shipton's Cave, Helmsley, a quaint town with its own castle and 2 grand Abbeys close by.

The Yorkshire Coast is approximately 1hr away with Whitby, Scarborough, Robin Hoods Bay, Flamborough Head, Filey and Bridlington as places with natural beauty, history and wild life. Lightwater Valley and Flamingoland are two popular theme parks approx 1hr away by car or bus.

York is an all year round place to visit. It is a haven of tourist attractions suitable for adults and children alike many of which are under cover making it an ideal family holiday what ever the British weather throws at us!

York is known as a 'City of Festivals', the list is endless (google 'York Festivals' for more details). Examples include Festivals for Food and Drink, Science, Vikings, Dance, Ebor (racing) and various Christmas festivals

Attractions include : The Minster, numerous Museums (including The National Railway Museum and Castle Museums), Jorvik Centre, York Dungeon, York Ghost Tours, Horse and Cart Rides, Tour Buses and the historic city walls.

If you like shopping then York has a varied selection of designer shops and boutiques. Regular themed markets are held in the square and then at night York comes into it's own with more tourist events, bars, night clubs and eating places to suit every style and pocket

"Great city centre break"

Miller's Cottage was an enjoyable 2 night stay. Located only a few minutes from the Minster, the location is perfect. It is located in it's own 'cul-de-sac' style yard/parking which gives it a private contained atmosphere - something rare with city centre locations.
The cottage itself is clean, modern with good amenities . The owner, Dylan, is friendly and informative and offers assistance at any time if requited.
I'd definitely recommend Millers Cottage to family and friends and would be my first option on returning to York.

"Location Location Location."

Just got home after a weekend stay in Millers Cottage, York. Arrived Friday afternoon and left Sunday morning. There were four of us - My wife & I, our 19 month old daughter and my mother-in-law. We went to a wedding on the Saturday while my mother-in-law looked after our daughter for us. For this reason, we really needed to rent a house in a good location and this was absolutely perfect. Two minutes walk to the York Minster and everything else that York city centre has to offer. Set back off the main road in a courtyard, there was room to park our car right outside the front door which made it easy. The house is lovely and old and set over two floors with the lounge & kitchen on the ground floor and the two bedrooms and bathroom upstairs. One of the many nice touches was a vase of fresh flowers on the table. The owner Dylan had put a few things in the kitchen for us when we arrived, tea, coffee, milk, orange juice and even a cake! He met us when we arrived to give us the keys and made a few local recommendations to my mother-in-law of toddler friendly places to visit. All in all, a very pleasant stay and hopefully we'll have the opportunity to stay again. Extremely reasonably priced bearing in mind the perfect location. We'd thoroughly recommend it to our friends.

Lovely to receive your positive feedback, thank you so much, it was a pleasure to have you. Pleased everything was to your liking and hope to see you again sometime soon. Best wishes

"Excellent cottage in the heart of York"

The cottage is excellent - fully equipped and right in the centre of York so everything is just a short walk away. The manager, Dylan, was very friendly and helpful and gave us useful advice on places to visit and good restaurants. We were sad to only be staying for two nights and would certainly want to stay here if we came back to York.

Thank you so much, it was a pleasure to have you with us and glad everything was to your liking. Hope to see you again sometime.
