The Yorkshire region
The historic city of York needs no recommendation, it teems with interest for every generation in any season. From the minster to the walls, museums, art galleries, viking centre and river boat trips, the York wheel and chocolate - the story of chocolate production in the city. Great shopping in the Shambles and Stonegate, with fantastic shopping centres at Monks Cross. Come rain or shine there is always something to fascinate the holidaymaker, making York second only to London in visitor numbers. Further afield visit the York Moors, Harrogate, Leeds, Scarborough, Whitby and Filey on the coast, or the stately homes of Harewood house and Castle Howard.
Acomb is a bustling suburb of York, 2 miles to the west, about a half hour walk to the city centre. Good transport links and with excellent local facilities.

"An ideal location and everything you need for a short break away"
There were 7 of us that staying at this house for a sophisticated hen weekend. Every one of us said that we would definitely stay again and will be recommending it in the future.
The house had all the amenities needed, plenty of space, a good location and it was beautiful to sit out on the patio for breakfast as the weather was so pleasant.
The owners were helpful from start to finish and ensured that we had all of the details that we needed.

"Beautiful house and area but house was not very clean"
When we first entered the house there was a very unpleasant odour which seemed to eminate from the kitchen. Our first port of call was the kettle for a cup of tea after travelling 4 hours, when filling the cups, boiling water leaked everywhere. We had a look upstairs which on first look seemed tidy until my daughter used the upstairs bathroom to find in the bucket used sanitary towels and tampons! The beds in the room are very uncomfortable and at night when it is dark outside there is no lights as the outside lights dont work.
Going by the amount of money that is brought in by this house it would not cost much to bring it up to a decent standard. In my opinion the cleaner tries her best in a short space of time between holiday makers but what this house needs is an initial clean from top to bottom. Would i recommend to a friend? yes if things were sorted out.
These guests, despite checking the arrival time, arrived 45 minutes early when the housekeeping had not been completed. No complaints were made at the time of their visit. They left 17 bags of rubbish outside, moved the tumble dryer into the kitchen from the garage and ran it unventilated, smoked in the house and burnt the carpet, it took our cleaner an extra 3 hours to clean, the property was left in such a dirty state. By far our worst guests ever, I shall be contacting the charity who paid for their stay of the problems these guests will cause for future holiday home owners. The rental paid was £425, when costs are deducted it is hardly worth accommodating guests like these. We always try our very best for our guests but some people will never be happy.
