Monkgate has a handsome exterior, it is a 4 storey town house which sits proudly on one of the wide and prestigious routes into the city, it has the rare facility of a large walled garden to the rear of the house, this is now gravelled and is used as parking for the house. There is 1 parking space with each apartment and an additional 4th space if 2 cars are parked tandem.
So book the whole property - sleeps 13 or take an individual flat. Flat 1 sleeps 4, Flat 2 sleeps 3 and Flat 3 sleeps 6.

"Amazing Easter Weekend"
Stayed in the whole of 45 Monkgate.....best word to describe the complete experience is 'amazing' from the customer service I received from York Holiday Homes (answered all my 'many' annoying questions with really helpful answers and great advise....as I had never been to York before) to the accommodation which was absolutely fantastic. Each apartment in Monkgate house has a stunning and really spacious living room and all the kitchens have all the mod cons... and with little touches like pints of milk and little biscuits left for our arrival........... it really took the stress of organising a large trip away knowing we were staying in such lovely accommodation. The location was also fantastic and this actually saved us all money as we did-not need to use taxis as we were able to walk into York to carry out the activities we had planned I will definitely be back for another holiday as even if there was not as many of us as we could just stay in one/two of the apartments!

"comfortable, clean and within walking distance to most attractions"
We found this apartment on the web and as we were travelling from Australia we just booked it hoping it would be everything they said it would be. We found apartment to be comfortable and clean, it definitely suited our needs as a family group and it was in walking distance to most attractions. The staff were very helpful whenever you had a query.

"A pleasant period property but with a cold, unfriendly management style"
We rented the first floor apartment for a long weekend Xmas shopping. The property is ideally situated a few hundred yards from Monk Bar. It is in Georgian style with high ceilings, light and airy in the summer no doubt, but cold and draughty in winter, and very cold in management style.
In the welcome folder, we were greeted by a list of rules. We have enjoyed holidays in rented flats and cottages all over the UK and have never seen a list of do's and don'ts like it. Is it good business practice to treat clients as if they were small children?
We returned from lunch one day to find the manager had been into the property. We'd left the central heating on (unintentionally) while we went out. They switched it off and left us a rather curt note about it, asking for a contribution towards the heating costs because – as they put it - 'utility bills are extremely high !' (as if we didn't know). Needless to say they didn't get a contribution as their officiousness spoiled our weekend.
They should try sealing the draughts before demanding more money from clients.
We will not be returning.

"Brilliant location, lovely apartment"
Am giving a rating of excellent despite a couple of issues with the boiler - but can happen to anyone and the staff all dealt with it in a professional and friendly manner even offering to move us to another of their properties. Very nice apartment and fantastic location just a minute's walk from the city walls.
Appreciated the free parking in York centre, spacious bedroom and living room, double room a bit small but didn't affect our stay in the slightest.
Would recommend, in easy walking distance of all York city centre shops and restaurants and bars.

"Fabulous property close to the centre of York"
A group of 10 ladies rented the complete house (3 apartments) for a weekend in November; we loved it! All the homely touches made it really special (things like hot water bottles, books, magazines, soft toys for children ~ not that we took any with us!).
We have definite plans to return again next year, and it was great being able to park safely and securely at the rear of the property.
I knew beforehand that WiFi was now available at this property, but as I didn't handle the actual booking, I hadn't realised that it would be charged for.
