"Another fantastic stay"

A great base for our trip to Yorkshire. Immaculate house with all necessary equipment for a 2 and 4 year old.

"Excellent base for exploring North Yorkshire"

Yew Tree Cottage offers an excellent base for exploring North Yorkshire. No expense has been spared in renovating and equipping this cottage and this results in a comfortable and enjoyable stay whatever the weather. It is a spacious property and has a particularly attractive enclosed garden area. The nearby pub is as good as its Trip Advisor reviews suggest and the owner will arrange for the delivery of milk, newspapers and fruit and veg. I would particularly commend the information provided of activities to do in the area and also the ease of communication with the owner. Strongly recommended.

"Great location"

This cottage has been modernised but has not lost any of it's character. It is in a lovey quiet location and is a great base to explore the joys of Yorkshire. The hamper provided delicious local produce, the eggs were all XXL (poor chicken that layed them), freshly ground Taylors of Harrogate coffee, bread, cakes etc. There is no mobile coverage (some may think this a blessing!), however there are pcs available to use with very good internet connections and a landline.

"Excellent cottage"

We spent 3 nights at the cottage on a York trip. Location is a pretty village. Quiet but with an excellent pub, and wide facilities at malton, 10 away. The area is beautiful, with castle Howard on the doorstep and the moors and Coast close. York is an easy 20 minutes away, and this is a refreshing alternative to the hurly burly of a city centre stay (we visit York several times a year). The cottage is pretty, very comfortable and quiet. Facilities are strong, with very good kitchen and beds. Owners are responsive and very helpful. Overall strongly recommended and we certainly hope to be back.

"A perfect place to escape, relax and explore"

Yew Tree Cottage was a wonderful place to stay. I spent a few days on my own before family came to stay and it was perfect as a place to stay on your own or with others. The surrounding area is beautiful with lovely walks right from the door and plenty of places nearby to explore. We had a week of perfect weather and the garden is a brilliant sun trap in the mornings but the cottage has everything you could need so even in bad weather it would still be a perfect place to relax. The welcome hamper was lovely, the eggs were even double yolkers! I couldn't have wished for a more perfect place to escape to - thank you!

"Another fantastic stay"

Great for small children. Had everything we needed. Kept in great condition. Well appointed with lots to do near by for children. There was a nice park 10 mins walk away that's a bit tricky to find (down Church Road) and we enjoyed the adventure playground at Castle Howard.

"Perfect comfortable accomodation in a great location"

Excellent location, right next to Kirkham priory and within very easy reach of Malton, York, and Castle Howard. More importantly, a good pub (the Blacksmith's Arms) a few doors away and another within walking distance (The Stone Trough). The cottage itself is very comfortable, tastefully furnished, and well-equipped. The fire in the dining room and the stove in the living room are great, and there's lots of wood and kindling to get them going.

"A beautiful home from home in rural North Yorkshire"

A stunning cottage beautifully decorated and designed with everything you could need and want in a gorgeous rural village with a fabulous pub a few doors away. Proximity to York is also a big bonus. We didn't want to come home! We will definitely be back...

"Relaxing and luxurious but not particularly baby friendly""

We had a lovely relaxing week in the beautiful village of Westow. The cottage was spacious and incredibly comfortable and clean and we particularly appreciated the plasma TV in our bedroom! We booked this cottage through "babyfriendly boltholes" and as we were travelling with a 1 year old and a 4 year old we were expecting a very safe haven so that we could kick back and relax without having to worry about the kids. However this wasn't the case. Our one year old kept thinking that the metal blind cords were necklaces so that meant we couldn't let her upstairs at any point on her own as it felt like a serious accident waiting to happen. We also had to spend 10 minutes when we arrived removing various glass vases out of reach of small children and this was also the case with cleaning products in a low cupboard in the kitchen and the dirty metal implements placed next to both of the fireplaces. Luckily we had brought a sack of our own toys with us as unlike other "babyfriendly boltholes" properties that we have stayed in before, there were no toys provided and the boardgames were for children aged 7 years and above. The garden was also much smaller than it looked in the photos and due to the steep concrete steps we constantly had to be within very short range of the kids. The children like us did thoroughly enjoy their week at Yew Tree Cottage and although the weather was rather cold and wet we had some wonderful day trips to Whitby, Dalby Forest, the Railway Museum in York and the local swimming pool in Norton. It is definitely a beautiful part of the country that we look forward to returning to in the future.

Many thanks for your detailed feedback which we really appreciate. With one year old twins, we take baby safety very seriously too and we have made several improvements to address your points and make our cottage a safer and fun place for little ones. We're glad you loved the cottage and surrounding area and all thoroughly enjoyed your week. You are welcome back anytime.
