The East Anglia region
Dereham 7 miles; Wymondham 7 miles; Norwich 14 miles.
The quiet rural mid Norfolk village of Thuxton is set between two market towns, Dereham and Wymondham, both offering good shopping facilities and traditional weekly markets. Thuxton village is fortunate to have its original pretty railway station, now a private residence, which is part of the Mid Norfolk Railway, an 11 mile restored train line from Dereham to Wymondham. Undergoing restoration is a further 6 miles of line to County School, home to a visitors centre and the well-known former Watts Navel School. A great day out can be enjoyed at nearby Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse, a fascinating journey through time and rural Norfolk life. Just outside the market town of Fakenham you can visit Pensthorpe, home of BBC Springwatch, or visit one of the coastal RSPB sites. Spend a day visiting the city of Norwich, or just relaxing on the Norfolk broads, and don't forget to visit Norfolk's beautiful and varied coastline. There is so much to do around this part of East Anglia.
The cottage is nestled in the heart of the farming area best known as Mid Norfolk. The Mid Norfolk railway runs through this part of Norfolk and residents can take this hobbyist railway ride to Dereham or Wymondham, the local station is only a 5 minute walk from the property. The area is most famously known for its peace and quiet. From the cottage the visitor is able to enjoy many of the local walks, or cycle rides along the quiet country roads.

Thank you for your feedback.
I am sorry that you found the cottage was not to your liking, the cleaning and gardening are normally done by ourselves. I will certainly bring the matter of the garden and it's unkempt state to the person who under took this task on this occasion. With regards to the 'snag' on the stairs and downstairs toilet if you could email me with more details I will ensure this is also attended to. Thank you for your booking and time you have taken to tell me about the items which spoilt your holiday. I look forward to your email via the booking system, which will help in providing a better service to those booking after you. Kind regards Janice

We have just returned from a wonderful week at Church Cottage. As soon as we arrived we felt at home. The cottage has everything you could ever need and the owners have put in so much thought and effort. The area is so peaceful and feels very tucked away but also has all ameneties just 10 minutes drive. There is a huge 24 hour Tesco and all the other small independent shops you would expect from a market town in Dereham. The cottage description doesn't do the house justice and doesn't mention all the extra little touches like the great collection of books, DVD's, board games and jigsaws that kept our children well entertained...not that we had much time to relax at home as there is just so much to do in the area. We spent many hours on many fabulous beaches from the lively (and lovely!) seaside resorts of Great Yarmouth and Hunstanton to the more traditional seaside towns of Cromer and Sheringham. We also spent an afternoon on Happisburgh beach which is totally away from it all and has golden white sands. We visited Wroxham and took a paddle steamer ride down one of the Broads and visited Gressenhall Farm & Workhouse Museum, which was an intriguing step back in time. Our daughters aged 5 and 8 had a wonderful time with something different to experience every day...the cherry on the top was waving at the passengers on the steam engine which literally passes the end of the garden! (its a private line so no late night trains or disturbed sleep) Maybe it was the fact that the weather was amazing and also that we don't mind driving a little way to visit different attractions that helped but we have fallen in love with Norfolk and all it has to offer. This little cottage is the perfect base and we will hopefully be back next year to explore even more. Thank you!
Many thanks for your review
And hope you returned safely

"Beautiful cottage in a quite hamlet but within easy access to any amenities you require"
Everything you need within easy access but you are tucked away in a quite spot of.
The owners have put a lot of thought and effort into ensuring that everything you need has been considered.
This was 2nd time we had visited the property and will certainly be visiting again. My favourite bit is the feeling of being away from it all but knowing with 10 minutes you have easy access to amenities.
Perfect for people looking for a quite holiday.
