The Isle of Wight region
The Isle of Wight enjoys its own little micro climate. Often I can look across the Solent to see dark clouds when we here are bathed in sunshine. Within a stone's throw from Waters Edge you can enjoy leisurely walks along disused steam railway tracks along the Yar estuary (famous for its bird watching), adventerous walks incorporating The Needles and Old Battery and scrumptious dining with an amazing choice of truly different restaurants.
Examples include The George Hotel with its newly appointed brasserie or maybe superb fresh fish at the famous "Salty's" restaurant or a unique experience at the newly opened "On the Rocks' restaurant, where you cook the very best of island beef on a lava stone at your own table. Just across the road from your property is the Beach House Cafe - good value fresh food and an excellent full English breakfast right on your doorstep. There are two busy pubs in Yarmouth and then the newly opened "The Hut" restaurant which is situated directly on the beach at Colwell serving fresh fish with a stunning view. Lord Tennysons House 'The Farringford' in nearby Freshwater, has recently opened its doors to a new Pizza/Italian in their garden restaurant. All this and much more within walking distance of your holiday home and just five minutes drive from the ferry terminal at Yarmouth. Waters Edge has been awarded a Five Star Rating with Quality & Tourism. Extensive reviews are available - view the website
The Island is host to a large variety of international activities. International Jazz Divas festival, IOW walking festival, The Festival and Bestival (pop venues) Ribex boat show , Yarmouth Old Gaffers Festival, Yarmouth Carnival week, Round the Island Yacht Race in June (this passes right past your window), Cowes week, Annual steam show , Little Britain Challenge Cup , IOW Cycling Festival .... to mention but a few!! "Location, location, location!"
It really did have everything we needed. It ticked all the right boxes and is well worth every one of it's 5* rating. What a marvellous location overlooking the solent - we sat and watched the ferries, yachts and shipping pass every day.

"Excellent seaside property"
What a welcome. We arrived at Waters Edge to find a bottle of wine, milk and a lovely vase of roses on the dining table. The accommodation was spotless and you were instantly drawn to the lovely view of the solent from the living room window. Jan the owner telephoned to check we had settled in ok. The property was stocked with everything you could possibly need, like home from home. There were three bathrooms which is most definitely a bonus with two teenage daughters. The beds were lovely and comfortable. We discovered outside the back door a lovely woodland walk which we did most evenings with our dog. If you walked along the path you came to an elevated position with an information board on the view from that position. From here was the most amazing sunset. From the front of the property was another pleasant walk along the beach towards Yarmouth which took about 15 minutes and took you along a short section of the road and past the marina. Yarmouth has several nice pubs and restaurants. There is also an excellent pub called the Red Lion in Freshwater which served amazing fish and chips, but you do need to book a table as it gets very busy. Across the road from Waters Edge is a small restaurant called the Boathouse which does nice breakfasts and has a conservatory right on the beach. We had a lovely relaxing week. The property was advertised as being unsuitable for wheelchairs. But I think it is worth mentioning that my mother, who is 80, found the stairs inside the property hard work as she had to use the stairs to access any of the rooms in the house as from the front door you have to go upstairs to the living room and downstairs to the bedroom. I would probably recommend it not being suitable for people with mobility issues. Other than that point, there is absolutely no fault with the property and we would definitely stay there again.

"Lovely house, fabulous view and great location"
I am confident in recommending this house for a stay on the Isle of Wight. It is situated just outside Yarmouth where there are pubs and restaurants and where you can park easily after 6pm for free. From the balcony you can watch the Lymington ferry travel back and forth to Yarmouth, and the sail boats drift by on sunny days. The layout of the house is good, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms on the ground floor, living room and kitchen in the middle and one more bedroom and bathroom on the top floor. Furnishings and decor are good quality and even the pictures on the walls add to the general ambience. We had a lovely time.

"Great house - awesome view"
Group of four chaps just spent four nights at Waters Edge, as a base for a walking short-break. Great house - exactly as described, really lovely. View over the Solent from the balcony constantly changes with the weather and the light - beautiful. Yarmouth is chilled and the island is great. Definitely recommend.

"Great spot, lovely place"
Jan couldn't do enough to make our stay a good one. The house was one of the best equipped rentals we have stayed in. Sea views were lovely, an easy 20 minutes walk to Yarmouth and some lovely touches inside including very comfortable beds. Highlights of the stay for us were the Yar river walk, the wonderful produce for sale in the Yarmouth Cost Cutters and good coffee at PO14. Would recommend Waters Edge for a relaxing break by the sea.

"Superb in every way"
Just 5 minutes from leaving the ferry at Yarmouth we arrived at Waters Edge which could not be faulted by the adults & teenagers who spent the 2014 autumn half term holiday there.Spread over 3 floors, including a balcony with table and chairs ,and with great views of the Solent every small detail had been considered by the owners even down to supplying slippers! One minor problem arose whilst we were there and this was dealt with as soon as reported. We had visited the IoW previously so this visit allowed a relaxing break as the property is in a quiet location. There is an attraction within a few minutes walk which has a cafe (we didn't try here) and a licensed cafe is found a few yards from the house in the opposite direction. If you have young people whose holiday is not complete without every minute action packed this is not the ideal holiday place but there is so much on the IoW within a short drive most families would be happy here. One final comment - from our first contact with the owner nothing was too much trouble. Thank you

"Comfortable accommodation in a quiet and pleasant area"
Highlight of the holiday was returning to the property via the beautiful drive along the south coast after a day's sightseeing, knowing that we had a cosy and comfortable 'home' to return to. The proximity to Yarmouth and the ease of the crossing was a plus, (vacating the property, calling at the beach cafe opposite for coffee and then only having to leave 5 minutes before the time to be at the ferry, felt a very relaxing way to end the holiday)
kind words, for which many thanks jan

"Excellent self catering"
It was a pleasure from start to finish staying at this property. We found the house extremely comfortable, very clean and loved the decor. The location - right on the Solent was an added bonus with constant changing interest. This was by far the best self catering house we have rented. Thanks Jan for all the lovely touches and for your efficiency in the booking procedures. We shall return.
