The Isle of Wight region

The Isle of Wight, a few miles off the south coast of England, is historically celebrated for the world's largest sailing regatta, Cowes Week, Queen Victoria's Osbourne House, great locally farmed produce and the world's largets ever festival, Isle of Wight 1970 (600,000 on the downs). What's more the island boasts the most sun in the UK!

But today the Ise of Wight has even more to shout about. The Island plays host to festivals of music, film, sports, food and drink, including The Isle of Wight Festival, Cowes Week (that's sailing not the animals!), The Bestival, The Rhythm Tree Festival, The Minghella Film Festival, The Island Games and The Garlic Festival.

The great thing about being a small island is that you are never far from the coastline, with its miles of great beaches to discover. Whether you are looking to play, relax, sail, surf, kite or swim there are beaches for you. Our local favorites are Compton and Freshwater Bay.

For food and drink lovers, great pubs, cafes, farm shops, vineyards and tasty restaurants welcome you all over the Island.

"In need of updating"

Although the property is very large and gardens beautiful we all were disappointed with the decor it needs updating a lot of the windows need replacing as they do not shut properly a lot of the pains … More

Hello there, thank you for your review of our Manor.

We appreciative your feedback and we will do all that we can to make sure that the manor is updated to the expected standards. We are sorry that you had trouble with the windows, had we have known sooner we would have assisted you straight away, however we only found out about the one window when you were leaving, which has now been closed. The manor is a grand old manor with a lot of charm and we are in the process of updating it. We have already installed a beautiful new contemporary kitchen/diner and we are working our way around the house, which we will have much more time to do now the season is getting quieter. We can provide stair gates for the Manor, like we do for our other cottages, if guests could let us know if needed before arrival (some guests prefer not to have stair gates when no kids staying) As for the pond this is a very fair point and for the time being we will make a note of this so future guests are aware. We like to resolve any problems whilst the guests are around and we are just very sorry that this was not the case with your group. If you wanted to return again in the future we would be happy to offer you a return discount, and hopefully the Manor will be improved for your next stay. As you say the views and gardens are lovely and we hope that you made the most of our working dairy farm and honesty larder, the Island has a lot to offer and we hope you had a chance to see a lot of it in all it's summer glory.

Once again we are very sorry if you were disappointed with some of your stay with us, and we hope to improve these points as soon as we can for our next guests.

best wishes
The Tapnell Farm team.
