Home description
This high quality apartment was completed in 2008 in preparation for the Olympic Games. It is a lovely blend of Eastern and Western styles, with a spacious and light feel to the interior.
The ancient historic sights of Beijing are easily accessible from the apartment, including the Imperial Palace, temple of heaven, Tianam'an Square, the Great Hall, the famous tea houses, Peking opera, the pandas at Beijing Zoo, technology and computer zone, main shopping streets, malls and the markets. The choice of restaurants available in Beijing is fantastic, with the Beijing duck being a speciality. Yuan lake park is nearby, with boating facilities, and beautiful parkland. The famous water Lily park is also close by.
There are three supermarkets close to the apartment, and also Pizza hut, KFC, and the usual facilities of a residential neighbourhood. Carrefour, the larger supermarket is a 7 minute drive away. The apartment is a comfortable base from which to explore the city, which has excellent public transport, and taxis are very reasonably priced.

The North China / Beijing / Beijing City region
The apartment is located within a new residential area in Beijing. The neighbours are mainly Chinese families and professionals. The whole city is accessible by public transport or taxi, and there is plenty to see in such a Megacity. It is possible to use Beijing to visit the Great wall for example, the nearest point to Beijing is at Badeling. The historic sights of the city, and the more recent sights, such as the Bird's Nest stadium are all accessible. The educational facilities, such as attending Mandarin, Tai-chi, and other classes are also possible.
Xuan Wu District
It is very much a city type vacation if you choose Beijing. Many sporting facilities are available in such a large city, such as tennis, ice-skating, badminton & snooker. It is possible to spend the whole vacation shopping if you wish. The markets are fascinating, the bartering takes a long time. However it is also possible to use the apartment as a business base, as it is comfortable to relax there after work.
How to get there
The main search engines like Opodo are good for booking flights to Beijing airport.
Lufthansa and air France have been competitive on prices, and offer good service. I usually fly from Manchester, and have a connecting flight in Europe.
It takes between 12-14 hours, depending on how long the wait is in Europe.
The flights from London are direct to Beijing.
There are buses from the airport as well. It is possible to get a taxi from Beijing airport to the apartment.
I am able to arrange a meet and greet lift from the airport, and car hire with driver, during your stay in the apartment. This is very reliable, but just car hire if you prefer to drive is also possible.

Further details indoors: The apartment has a light, airy feel, plenty of space for 5 people. The kitchen has the usual appliances, plus a Bosch oven, which is unusual for China (gas hob).
The apartment has been equipped with good quality wooden furniture, and kitted out from the Beijing Ikea.
It is very secure, with the metal outside door and heavy duty locks. It has a homely feel, as I have used it as a base whilst visiting Beijing, and find it relaxing and comfortable to return to after a busy day in the city.
Further details outdoors: The apartment is in a typical high storey block in a residential area. It is on the tenth floor, and has 3 lifts serving the block.
There is parking outside the apartment block, used by all its residents. There is an indoor swimming pool in the basement of the block.

This is available locally through friends, and very reliable, and helpful at times.
