The Island of Malta region
The Maltese archipelago lies virtually at the centre of the Mediterranean, with Malta 93km south of Sicily and 288km north of Africa. It consists of three islands: Malta, Gozo and Comino with a total population of 400,000 inhabitants over an area of 316sq km and a coastline of 196.8km.
Malta is the largest island and the cultural, commercial and administrative centre. Gozo is the second largest island and is more rural, characterised by fishing, tourism, crafts and agriculture while Comino is largely uninhabited.
With superbly sunny weather, expansive beaches, a thriving nightlife and 7,000 years of intriguing history, there is a great deal to see and do. With a little help from any guidebook, captivating places of interest are immediately identified – the world famous Hypogeum selected as a place of World Heritage by UNESCO, prehistoric temples and grand palaces are but a few - www.visitmalta.com
The rural side of the Islands is fascinating, with charming villages & captivating folklore. With 365 spectacular churches, there are more than a few highlights - the Mosta church famous for its large dome (third largest dome in Europe).
The Islands must be visited at festa time for an insight into local life with all its colour and passions. Feast at St Paul's Bay is celebrated on the last Sunday of July.
St Paul's Bay and its neighbours Bugibba and Qawra are Malta's largest, seaside resorts. They offer a variety of nightlife and leisure options. The coastline here has some wonderful open sea views and a vista across to St Paul's Island, where, according to legend, the ship carrying the Apostle is said to have been wrecked. The coastline promenade provides a long, though mostly level and easy walk from St Paul's Bay all the way to Qawra or Xemxija Bay. St Paul's Bay started life as a small fishing village. The parish church, built in 1617, was carefully restored after suffering heavy damage in World War II.
Xemxija is a town on the west side of St. Paul's Bay, Malta. Xemxija (meaning sunny) is the gateway to the sandy beaches of Golden Bay to the west, and to Mellieha Bay to the north. Xemxija is a quiet resort, surrounded by Maltese countryside and some of the most fertile valleys in Malta.
By walk one can find a picturesque small fishing harbour, Hotels, Restaurants, wine bar, Pubs and Mini-Market opened 7 days a week. Nightlife, shops, cinema, casino and bars can be found in the villages of St Paul's Bay, Buġibba and Qawra, all within 5 minutes drive or by bus.
This resort is surrounded by nature, picturesque countrysides, history and traditions.
Located just a few meters from the apartment is the Xemxija Heritage Trail. A walk along this trail whilst enjoying the magnificent country side, one can see the remains of thousands of years of history that the Islands of Malta have.
A Bird Sanctuary can also be found in Xemxija.

"Not suitable for winter letting"
The apartment only had heating by air conditioners with did not work and a gas heater which was pretty in-effective and left the property very damp and cold. The Jacuzzi was an inflatable model, which was not fully inflated, and the covers were full of water so it had not been prepared for the rental. We paid the full week price despite only booking for 3 nights, and in the end we left after 2 nights due to the cold and damp. The indoor seating arrangement is not really suitable for a group of 4, not to mention the 6 that the apartment claims to be able to cater for.
Your feedback is surprising and it is appropriate that we respond accordingly. The apartment has double glazed doors and is equipped with 3 fully functional (cooling and heating) air-conditioners, more than enough to provide heating requirement for the apartment. We also provide a portable gas heater for additional comfort. We regularly rent this penthouse apartment during the winter months and never had any complaints. Unfortunately it rained just before your arrival, and it is quite natural that some water traps on the spa lid. The spa is regularly maintained and spa water is very well treated all year round. The kitchen is equipped for more than 6 persons and both dining tables, inside and outside in the terrace, take 6 chairs comfortably. We would have preferred to have been approached with any problems encountered during the stay and given the opportunity to help.

"Really nice apartment with everything you need for a great holiday"
From the moment we booked, Andy and Claire were really helpful, friendly and relaxed. The apartment was well furnished, clean and the welcome food pack was very welcome! (I'd say a bottle of wine would have been a nice addition because we got there quite late, but I feel a bit mean saying it because everything else had been thought of.) We didn't need to contact the owners at all during our stay, but I would have felt very comfortable if we'd had to. We found the immediate area a bit soulless, but it was peaceful and once in the apartment, it didn't matter anyway. The front balcony was great and we sat and watched a spectacular sunset with a glass of wine - perfect! I would certainly recommend this apartment; we were happy to spend a couple of evenings not going out and the apartment was welcoming and comfortable enough to make that a pleasure - that can't be said of all holiday lets.

Booking of the apartment was very easy and straight forward and the owners Andy & Claire were very helpful from the start til the end! The apartment was very spacious, with one small balcony on one side of the property and a massive terrace on the other side where we spent most of our time sunbathing and relaxing in the jacuzzi spa. It is located in a nice quiet area, very peaceful overlooking Mistra Valley. The interior of the apartment was immaculate, very clean and tidy, kitchen offering the basic amenities that you would need for basic cooking. It was a very nice touch of the owners to provide you with some food essentials on arrival like bread, milk, butter, tea, coffee and some cooking condiments. There was even a small collection of DVDs available and also plenty of tourist information leaflets to help you plan your stay in Malta. The only negative we found was the exterior of the apartment, the walls were a bit run down and chipped, they could do with a new BBQ as the one there was a bit rusty and the canopes/ awnings that were supposed to be there were broken and not usable so there was no way of getting some shade on the terrace as the sun was shining all day long on that side. This didn't really bother us because we wanted to sunbathe and the rest of the apartment was good and the owners were very helpful throughout our stay we cant really fault anything else!

"Great apartment worry free arrangements"
I travelled with my partner and daughter to stay in the apartment in August, and we were pleasantly surprised by the standard of accommodation, the lovely views over the valley and the helpfulness of Andy and Claire. The apartment is a light and airy well equipped base for a great holiday. It is on the top of a fairly steep hill (hence the great views), and we used local transport and taxis to get about - but if you don't like a steep climb, Andy had a lot of advice about good car hire places. We spend many a happy morning lounging around the apartment and having breakfast and early morning sunshine on the terraces. XemXija is a nice little town with some nice restaurants (Porto del Sol was good, and the people at the Munchy Moose were really friendly and helpful with more local tips!). I'd really recommend this apartment.

"Lovely apartment with great balcony"
We stayed in this apartment for 6 nights in July 2011. It was a lovely place with a large balcony and a smaller balcony to the back. There was even a splash pool on the large balcony. The hosts lifted us at the airport and contacted us during our stay to ensure that everything was alright. I would definatly return if I came back to Malta. The only reason why the apartment didnt get 5 stars is due to the steep hill to get up to the apartment however Andy gave us numbers for the local taxi men and they took us where we needed to go for a very cheap price.

"Luxury family apartment with lovely owners in a perfect peaceful location."
From start to finish Andy and Claire were most helpful and friendly. Andy assisted in good value car hire recommendations and spent a lot of time with us when we arrived explaining how everything worked and suggesting ideas for our itinery. The apartment is very well equipped and with it being the penthouse has amazing views over the Mistra valley where one could sit and relax watching the sun set over the distant hills. There are numerous restaurants nearby including an excellent Indian Ganesha (great deserts) and in Xemxjia harbour Il-Veccja serving top quality Maltese dishes. The Beach Haven lido in Xemxjia is a relaxing place to visit on your last day if you don't want to venture too far. The buses although cheap are in transition and will need time to sort the service but still worth it as they serve the main resorts and Valletta can be reached from bus stops down the hill about 5 mins walk away. The apartment is also in an ideal location for visiting Gozo and several lovely beaches are 10mins away by car. All in all we would definitely recommend staying here and would not hesitate to come back again.
