About the home

Dar il Gnejna is a spacious village house with swimming pool and outdoor space for lounging and al fresco eating. 3 terraces, one for sunbathing, one for taking in the views and one (that is shaded) for escaping the sunshine - ideal for sipping a glass of local rose as you watch the cruise ships on their way to Valletta.

There are 4 double bedrooms (2 en-suite), a family bathroom, a large kitchen dining room with doors to the outside eating area, sitting room with doors to the poolside.

Located in the village of Xaghra, it's square with bars and restaurants is only 10 minutes walk away. Ramla Bay with its golden sandy beach and clear waters is just down the hill (5 minutes in the car) and Ggantija temples are also nearby. There's something for everyone.

The village is quiet and peaceful, yet only fifteen minutes from Victoria (a fascinating town with a maze of alleyways).

The island is not large so it is easy to find different places to swim, eat and explore. If you enjoy scuba diving there are plenty of diving centres, the nearest located in Marsalforn just 5 minutes by car.

Four spacious bedrooms - all with ceiling fans and all with either a balcony or terrace. 2 bedrooms are en-suite, one with a bathroom and one with a shower room.

Sea views

The Island of Gozo region

Gozo is a quiet and rural island. Mild winters and loads of sunshine means it is surrounded with vineyards and olive groves. It's fascinating history and architecture give it a flavour of its own.

In the spring there are lovely walks and when the sun's too hot there are secluded bays to discover. Lots of snorkelling, scuba diving, or hire a boat for the day and go round the island or to Comino. Visit the fishing port of Mgarr and go by ferry or sea plane to Valletta - the Grand Harbour is amazing.

During the summer every village has a fiesta, so every weekend there are fireworks with each village trying to outstrip the other.

The Xaghra area

Xaghra has a busy, vibrant square with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants to explore.

You will find good fruit and veg vans (well stocked with seasonal produce) in the village square early in the morning and the fishermen are often there too. The village is well located for access to all parts of the island.

There is a nightclub in Xlendi, carved into a cave, called La Grotta - a spectacular location for those who enjoy loud music and dancing.

“Highly recommended!” We stayed in this villa for 2 weeks in the summer holidays, with our two kids and our friends (another family with 2 kids). The house itself is really lovely, lots of personal touches, art work etc. The kids nicknamed it the "Mama Mia house"! It is really well designed and the layout makes it feel really spacious - there were 8 of us and we were never on top of each other. The kids loved the pool and the terraces were great, getting sun and different times of the day. It was great being so close to the supermarket, restaurants and bars. Xaghra is a really nice place and we loved Gozo. You can do quite a lot without a car, but if you want to explore you can hire a car for a few days or more. Beaches are beautiful but small and crowded in peak season, so our pool proved perfect and very relaxing. We didn't want to leave and we definitely want to come back.
